  • I have never posted anything on any site before however I think that this is a fantastic idea and felt that I had to thank you and participate. I am a 20/22 and 32 years old. I also hate when you go into a store and they only go up to a 16/18. I have shopped with Next for a long time and also Debenhams. The John Rocha range goes up to a 22 I believe, and I got some fantastic items there this summer - and they are available in store so you can actually try them on. They are also reasonably priced .The Next range is fantastic , but plus size ladies like to shop on the high street too so the sooner they are available in store the better. I have just joined a gym to try and improve my health and have found it difficult to get clothes suitable for the gym and swimming - anyone have any suggestions ?

Hi all, i am 5ft11" and a size 22 top 24 bottom..i am not obese, i have lipodema and lymphoedema ! I am a fashionable 30 year old with 3 babies. So i have shopped at all the shops mentioned and agree with most of what you all say. I am fed up to so have decided to take things in hand and make my own clothing range! It will go live next spring so watch out...i honestly believe that the women who design the clothes in our shops are thin! They don't understand what we want our clothes to do for us. Trinny and suzanna have it spot on, we all have good and bad bits, we need to decide what shape we are and dress to show the best bits. (i will have this on the site, and also email advice from me..i can make anyone look and feel fab x). Until my site launches though i have some advice.. The usa! The £ is holding up just with the $, most us stores will not ship to the uk. There is a way around this though..you rent a us post box or address. If you google this you will find lots of companies offering this service, where you order from the store, it ships to your new us address and they ship to you. There are a few that will ship direct..

I had thought of shopping abroad, but I hear you may have to pay VAT on your purchase, when it gets here.
Has anyone got time to write a bit of guide to buying plus clothes from the USA, e.g. sizes, VAT issues etc? I could add it to the list at the beginning of this thread.

  • What a great idea for a thread. The only problem is that I'm only 5 feet tall (just), so even when I find something that fits round me, it's always to long everywhere. Any ideas anyone please?
  • M&S - you can't beat the quality.

Another useful plus size shop for men https://www.bigsmenswear.net you can only buy from the shop (Rochdale) so probably only useful for people in the North, but their website does show some of the items they sell. Sizes 2XL - 7XL. My OH gets most of his clothes from here and they are very good quality, especially in the sale, he got a lovely leather jacket there last week for £79!!
