I don't think I was unkind, just asking a valid question in what was meant to be a humorous way, hence the smiley. Apologies for any offence and welcome to the forum.
Thanks. Maybe it was just too late in the day for me, so I didn't realise it was meant to be humorous - only just got to grips with how to post a message and haven't mastered the icon thing yet.
If it weren't for mystery shopping I would never have discovered the joy of launch control.

If you spend a lot of time reading forums, you will discover that there is often someone on the windup (trolls) and they normally only have few posts so people do get suspicious at first. It's always better to lurk and then ask really, really boring questions for the first posts and by that, I mean about 20-50 posts. Lurking is good as you see how the forum operates....

Using the search function to find out specific questions is also good as you can find a variety of info, sometimes stuff you didn't actually need to know but that is very useful as well as your original search.

Has anyone seen the "Irish Towns" screen in RE? Is this new??

"Every month we have several assignments available in towns across the ROI. To make sure we can tell you about these great assignments we need to know when you will be passing through that town.

All you need to do is simply tell us in the table below, which towns you can visit, how frequently and when."

Could somebody please give me an idea whether it will be worth me doing MS.
I have registerred with a couple of companies and been offered a questionaire where I will recieve £20, however, I am on Income support, i know I will have to let them know and also register as self employed. Will it be worth me doing this to just do a couple of MS jobs a month?

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Anyone?

I think you might be! They seem to know a lot more about the implications of part time work on different benefits. Sorry I can't help any more!

You should declare the income, at worst they will deduct it from your benefit, but depending on what you receive (benefits) you may get less deducted than you earned.

The matter for concern is whether registering as self employed will affect your right to benefit - you are doing it to decalre additional income rather than main income source and that should be taken in to account, but your advisor should let you know what is accceptable!
  • I am somewhat flabbergahsted by some of the claims for payments/income here - not doubting.. just amazed!

My experience was "terrible" - with the company "not renowned for it's fees" .. I struggled to find an accessible assignment.. the website listed very few across the whole country, and certainly never more than 2 or 3 in similar locations.. and any actual shopping ones required a refund to be obtained - I did my one and only with a stationery company for less than £5.. which in principle isn't bad for a few mins shopping, but given I had to spend "at least" 20 minutes browsing followed by asking for help, and then purchase an item, leave the store, return at least 4 hours later, obtain a refund and then fill in a report.. All in I spent more than 60 minutes at the store, 20 minutes filling in the report, plus my time going back and forth to the store.. not even "minimum wage" :o(

Based on my one experience, it would take 12 full weeks full time to clear £2000, and about 12 years to find that many (400) assignments - how do the rest of you do it???

I accept that the more you do the more they are likely to use you, but really.. how many penny jobs do you have to do to get something worthwhile??

Some of the earnings on here are a bit tongue in cheek ;), however I have received around £1400 in fees since April, and I have a full time job. The trick is to sign up with a number of companies -with a bit of planning you can make it work. For example, on a weekend day recently I:
    - did a 'catalogue shop'
    - did a 'designer discount shop'
    - did a bank
    - returned item to discount shop
    - returned item to catalogue shop.
1 hr from start to finish & from memory the fees were around £28 in total. OK, I had to write up later, but still, not bad (4 days off my mortgage :D)
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
    :) Mortgage Balance = £0 :)
