I do it to help me meet the make £10.00 a day challenge on the DFW board. I log everything on UKMonkey's spreadsheet, and can't envisage ever having to pay any tax because of the £0.40 mileage allowance.

Have earned £400.00 since beginning of September, and I reckon it averages out about £10.00 an hour. I fit it around my other commitments quite easily.

If you stick with it, it becomes easier, and you get to know the jobs that you enjoy, that pay a half decent rate, and also the ones that you wouldn't touch again with a barge pole.
I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.

1 hr from start to finish & from memory the fees were around £28 in total. OK, I had to write up later, but still, not bad (4 days off my mortgage :D)

Tongue in cheek or not.. thats still impressive..

The only downside of multiple registrations is having to check "online" every few hours to see if theres something new.. I am sure there are hundreds if not thousands of folk in my area (Lancashire/Manchester) registered with the company I tried.. Do you end up neurotic about checking potential opportunities??

Brilliant way of looking at it!

I'm in a similar situation to you too, work full time and have just made £1000 since June. It's far from bank breaking amounts, but I find it's better for me to be out and about earning money then sat at home in front of the TV. It might not be much but it's certainly more money than I'd be earning if I wasn't MSing.

Most of us are registered with multiple companies. I regularly work for 6, but am signed up to 9. You'll soon get the hang of picking up jobs from different companies, rescheduling everything to be in the same area on the same day saving a lot of time in travelling. Also with report writing it gets easier the more you do, and so do the jobs, you'll soon find yourself checking your watch every time you walk into a shop regardless of whether it's a MS or not :rotfl:.

This is a thread dedicated to alerting shoppers of mystery shopping companies releasing jobs. The main chat thread can be found here.

PLEASE only post alerts on here - This thread is subscribed to by a good number of people and if someone posts here, they will be alerted, only to find there's no actual alert!

To be one of those subscribers, aim above-right of this post, click "Thread Tools" and then "Subscribe to this thread".

This thread's as much about helping others as being helped, so as soon as you notice a new block of assignments be released, please remember to update this thread!

Finally, remember your contract with the MSing companies, that you're not supposed to mention client companies' names on here, so please try and be vague. Being cryptic is tantamount to saying the client company's name, so please limit your alerts to "Supermarket" or "Petrol station" - the people registered with the relevant companies will know who you mean anyway!

    :D

This will allow you to be sent an e-mail every time someone finds new jobs uploaded. You might find that you get an e-mail about jobs for companies you're not signed up to, but for the occasions where you get a job it's really useful!

You should declare the income, at worst they will deduct it from your benefit, but depending on what you receive (benefits) you may get less deducted than you earned.

The matter for concern is whether registering as self employed will affect your right to benefit - you are doing it to decalre additional income rather than main income source and that should be taken in to account, but your advisor should let you know what is accceptable!

Thank you, I will give benefits a call, before I had my second daughter I was allowed to earn £20 and my benefits where reduced accordingly, so was thinking it'd be something similar.

Has anyone here join Mystery Shoppers. They charge £10 to do their test, just wondered what they're like in terms of job availability (in general, i know it'll vary by area)?

Usually with gyp if you dont get a receipt its three strikes and you're out so you should be ok this time.
It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.
