It is supposed to be locked to EasyMobile - but now I've tried an Easy SIM, it doesn't work. ('Phone restricted' - 'Undo')
So I tried a number of spare SIMs and the Virgin one works
(you said you couldn't unlock it from Easy - can you do it from Virgin?)

the security code is different from the unlocking code
enter the code as written (without the spaces) using the * key to get the PW+
use another sim to enter the code
