yes, sorry its a sony ericcson phone k700i,
my contract was with mercury who say they have had call bars put on some of their customers phones by a company called gci...mercury have apologised for all the hassle and said i can cancel the contract, send the sim card back to them and keep the phone.

i recon they should also give you the unlock code as a gesture of good will (if you push them a bit)

good idea..but they have left an automated message on their answerphone now saying they cant offer any more help or advice and direct customers to ring GCI, whoever they are! So i've cancelled my direct debit and wrote them a letter enclosing my sim card etc...
so....is it not possible to unlock this phone do you think?
