I can't even remember in detail, basically went somewhere near Swiss Cottage and through Camden. We ended up in Regents Park at one time.
We probably went in and out of the zone several times? :rotfl:0 -

Edited to add unless of course she was their in the course of her employment as a special care worker in the forensic service of a large mental health charity and you were the service user - that would explain a lot.0 -

Holiday? As for insults you are the one brought someone’s wife into it - going so far as suggesting you picked her up one night in a reputed "cattle market" you cheeky ineffectual failure of a man.

I very much doubt it, it would have been a bit of a trek from South Wales where she lived or Devon where she studied. Are you sure it wasn't one of the Blue Gang in drag you pulled? The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

Only just got it? Actually my wife got it.
We're going to struggle to find the money. I haven't got £120 to just lay out like that.
I can't see anywhere it gives time to pay.0 -
Thanks for the comments. We did get lost though and when we got near Euston we were concerned about being on time as we were running late. When we went found parking near Gower Street it was £9.60 for 2 hrs and I actually thought at the time this extortionate charge might be something to do with congestion zone. As you quite rightly say - the penalty chage is scandalous.
BTW I've showed this thread, to a few people and they are gobsmacked at the self righteous attitude of most.
The parking charge on the streets around campus is extortionate, I agree. But it's high for a reason, namely to discourage people from driving in (whether they be student, lecturer or just a random member of the public) and cause even more congestion. It's pretty effective as well, it's rare that more than half of the parking bays are filled during their hours of operation.0 -
I'm not denying there were signs, just that we didn't see them. TBH it was only half way through this discussion I realised the boundary is where it is. When we I started this, I thought the boundary was up near the end of the M1. None of the signs posted give details of how or when to pay anyway, and I thought it must be some kind of automatic system. I was correct in that assumption - what I didn't know that there was any Penalty charge and I don't know how I would have done. Like I said I went through London a while back and never got a bill, I followed a pretty similar route as well. We initially thought they were for parking, as we pulled up on Gower Street to ask directions as we didn't want to get lost again. When we saw it was 2, we were really confused by the 2nd one as we hadn't even stopped on the road in question. It was only then that we realised that it was just for being there!I work at UCL and I can tell you for a fact that there are plenty of congestion charging signs on every approach from Euston Road into the Bloomsbury campus. Gower Street, Gordon Street, Woburn Place etc. - all of these roads have plenty of signs on poles by the side of the road and a big red 'C' painted on the street to warn drivers that they are entering the zone. There are also plenty of signs on the Euston Road itself warning drivers that turning off towards the centre of London means passing into the zone. I'm sorry you missed them, but they are there and there are a lot of them.
