I actually find it amazing that this extortion can be legal!

Come on Shafted it's not extortion. Plenty of people have already said, and proven, that there are enough signs to make you realise you are in a Congestion Charge zone. When it was introduced it was big news, you'd have to be particularly dense not to realise that you didn't have to pay.

Yet you still travelled to that there London, on a big family day making no attempts to find out about it before hand.

You've got to hold your hand up and say I was wrong, not pontificate on how you've been fleeced.

Your actions make you appear either lazy or stupid. You decide

He gets to decide if he looks lazy or if he looks stupid? I thought that was our decision :p
  • As I said I obviously made a mistake. As there was nowhere telling me how or where to pay, I assumed I would get a bill. I was correct in this - I didn't realise that I would be extortionate. If you don't agree it's extortionate then we'll just have to disagree, but do you really think your screen name is appropriate!

I've travelled the world making less preparations than I did for that day!

When I posted here I didn't expect a magic wand, but I certainly didn't expect the majority of posts to be supportive of the extortionate PCN. Maybe it should be renamed moneygivingexpert.com!

This is why I advised you consider visiting Pepipoo.com for useful advice regarding the PCN and consideration of appeal.

I do not think most people do support the charge, however what the majority of people here find incredulous is your insistence that you where not aware of the congestion charge and failed to see any of the numerous signs that warn you of its existence on the approaches to London.

I think you have no choice other than to put it down experience, pay the charges and next time be more observant and maybe do some homework before commencing a journey.

I have visited there - Thanks very much - I thought I already had done.

One thing about this forum, I click 'Quote' Type a long reply and it then tellls me to login. (Some kind of timeout). It (like TFL) doesn't tell you beforehand of the cost of not double checking you're logged in when you've been doing something else. I don't suppose anybody here has come across that problem though.

It sounds like something to do with how your browser handles cookies.

As above, it could be a cookie problem (have you experienced similar issues elsewhere?) or more likely it's because you didn't click the "Remember Me" box. Try logging out, then logging in and making sure you tick the box and see if it reoccurs.

Also, before making a long post, I'd suggest typing it out or copying and pasting it to Notepad so you have a copy in case it is lost. :)

Hold on, can't use the internet properly, can't work out how to pay the congestion charge properly. There's a pattern developing here
