Just had this problem myself, not very impressed, will avoid using my natwest card with paypal in future.0

Same with me, see my previous thread for paypals answer, it seems to be do with confirming your cards0

I have had a problem adding my new RBS Visa debit card to my paypal account.
Previously, I had a switch/maestro with Rbs, and then cancelled it with paypal, to then add my new visa debit card to my paypal account.
I tried to add the card, and this was the message that came up:
This credit card has been refused by the bank that issued your credit card. For details on why your card was refused, please contact your credit card issuer's Customer Service department. Or, you may want to try adding a different credit card.
I'm so frustrated! I run a small business and it's imperative that I use this card for transactions!
When I called the bank, the man had told me that there shouldn't be any problem, so I tried using my new visa debit card to activate it, which I have now done several times, and it still won't let me add it! Has this happened to anyone??0 -
Oh, and the man from the bank also said that everyone that had/has a maestro is/are now being issued with a visa debit instead, so does this mean that no one will be able to use their cards with paypal?!0

Freds_Friend wrote: »Just had a letter in reply to my complaint about being charged foerign exchange fees. They say that they have refunded the 2 charges, total 86p but they haven't yet. They point out that if an online merchants website is based outside the UK, even if you pay in Stirling, then a foreign exchange fee is charged. The terms and conditions actually say "may be applied".
The letter then goes onto say that I'd need to check where all the merchants websites were located and only if located in the UK would there be no charge.
I'll therefore not be using my card on line although as I use Firefox as a browser I may try using an add on called FLAGFOX
Flagfox is an extension for Mozilla Firefox that shows a flag icon indicating the current website's server location. It uses relatively little resources, and works by accessing an IP address location database contained within the extension rather than relying on top-level-domain roots like ".com" or ".uk". Clicking the icon loads Geotool, which provides a map of the location as well as more detailed information such as the ISP, city, and local time.
I've updated this thread (http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=2027107&highlight=argos+mastercard) but have also found a foreign exchange fee.
Freds friend, did you get the refund?
I'm obviously not quite at the stage yet where complaints have returned my call yet...0 -
Sorry to bump an old thread but wondered if someone can help, I have this week been issued a VISA Debit card to replace my Switch/Maestro Natwest card. I have so far not used it as a few people have given me stories of charges when using it, can anyone confirm the issues raised in this thread are still ongoing on have Natwest/Paypal resolved the issues & no longer charging? Which other companies were/are charging?

Sorry not ebay related, but I posted this in the resources bar and had no responses. Still a similar issue re NW visa cards and charges:
Ok I'm a little confused:think:,hopefully someone can help.
A few months ago I recieved a new NatWest Visa Debit card replacing my old solo card. I have had no problems using this card both online and in stores untill recentley.
Due to my job and the way I am paid, I set up an epassport account. I applied for and recieved both a 'virtual visa' and a physical Electron card. I have not yet used the virtual card and have only used the electron to withdraw cash from an ATM, (this is the only use for the eclectron, the virtual card is for online use only), but I needed to be able to transfer funds from my epassport account into my bank account so I added my personal visa debit card to my epassport account, in much the same way that you can add debit/credit cards to your paypal acount. It works great and I'm happy with it:), however, I am being charged £1.25 everytime I transfer funds to my bank account. I should mention that epassport is American, so funds are in $ but converted into sterling when it hits my account. So am I being charged for the currency conversion or am I being charged due to the BIN number? Can I claim back the £1.25? if so who from? and how do I stop it from happening again? I need to perform this transfer every week so if I'm going to be paying everytime it won't be long before it mounts up:eek:. Prior to this I was paid via cheque and incured no extra charges.
Thanks for reading, I hope I haven't lost you half way throughand am grateful for any info/advice

Just as an update to this, used the same Natwest Visa Debit card this week for an eBay/ PayPal transaction and I did not incur the extra charge discussed here, so seems the issue is resolved0
