Not sure if my post above refers to ebay buyers (like me) or sellers.
Digg however does say paypal are charging buyers 3%.
Put "Digg paypal" into a Google search for details.0 -
Thanks - TukishDelight. Not sure if Digg is referring to paypal in the US.0

Even though PayPal are adamant they haven't charged the £1.25 fee, my bank are refusing to help. I am going to go down the fraudulent transaction route and try get a chargeback, since I never authorised these amounts.
For some unknown reason, PayPal transactions are going through as foreign currency transactions. This happens even when paying UK sellers in Sterling,
Thanks for your help everyone,

I have been on the phone to my bank and Paypal this evening. Both of them are adamant they do not have my money and will certainly not refund it
I did phone eBay for a rant and, whilst they were very helpful and sympathetic, they weren't able to help since it was a PayPal issue.
If they don't have it, who does?

I've now found this in my Argos Mastercard terms and conditions.
If Argos quote this back to me then I want a definition of the word "MAY". My highliting and colour.
2.7 If you use your card for non-sterling transactions we convert the transaction to sterling on the day it is added to your account at a wholesale exchange rate set by the payment scheme provider. This may not be the same as the exchange rate on the date of the transaction. We also charge a foreign exchange fee which is listed under Charges. This fee may also apply to sterling and non-sterling transactions online, where the website is hosted by a merchant based outside the UK.0 -

How odd, I've just checked all my transactions for the past few weeks and even those i made from non UK sellers have gone through at the correct amount, I have not been charged any additional monies.
If it helps to narrow down what is happening I am using a Tesco visa card.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. After a lot of phoning around and making complaints with NatWest, I'm still no further forward. They're still in the belief that PayPal have levied the £1.25 charge and are certainly not looking to refund.
I've now spent over £20.00 in telephone calls to them, and will certainly be asking for re-imbursement.

Just as an aside I was staying on a camp site in the UK in the Summer. A Thomas Cook mobile cash machine/office was there. I made the decision to draw out money with my debit card knowing I would have to pay £2.50 charges. When it hit my bank another £1.25 had been added. I assumed by the bank. I think I should ask.0

Urm, this concerns me a bit. As I use PayPal occasionally, currently with a Solo card (I've had it several years and cba to change to a Maestro).
I received a letter last week from Natwest stating they are replacing my Solo with a Visa Debit within the next few weeks.
I'll avoid using the card with PayPal knowing this charge is likely to be taken as well.0
