£2k from MSE "stuff" is not bad going at all! In fact it is flippin marvellous - you wouldn't have turned £2k away if it arrived in the post, would you? :T

Oh absolutely, I'm really pleased with it!
Paper rounds done - and we finished early due to DS's super sprinting between houses.....so enough time for a quick coffee before heading out again.

Love the sprinting! I bet DS doesn't........
Shaun, the rules for this parent are:
    • take flask of coffee
    • sit in car reading Sunday papers with said flask of coffee
    • look up from time to time to see if DS is still playing/alive
    • ask at the end if he enjoyed it and tell him to get straight in the bath when he gets home.
    Job done :D

    :D Sounds good to me.

Hypno don't you still have the dongle so you can sit in the car with laptop

It would need topping up, so paying £10 to potentially win nothing on the free bingo is a bit of an unnecessary spend really.....

It's his "warm up" for the match this morning :D

To that list of rules, Karma, you can add "wash and iron your own football kit!"

Good morning Hypno and co, it's nice to get up while it's light for a change! Like you Hypno I am reorganising my budgeting at present. Payday is next week, and after deducting the cost of the Sainsbury shop due on payday, the remainder of the grocery budget will be split 4 ways for the 4 weeks to next payday. I will aim to spend less than the weekly amount and put the leftover amount at the end of each week into the sundries/Christmas budget. I have had a budget of sorts all along but not quite as disciplined so here goes! Debt repayments are taken care of with the IVA payment, plus 50% of the surpuls I earn over the agreed basic amount they say I can earn. Once this IVA is done (not till 2014 sadly!) I will start paying amounts to reduce our mortgage further, so that when our fixed rate deal ends (end of 2019) then there should be less of a balance to worry about. That's the theory anyway!
    Have a good day everyone!

The way I am trying to do it is that OH brings home about £1150 after tax from his main job.

If I then transfer £200 to the housekeeping account each week, that has to do us food petrol, bus fares, any spends at the ski club, football training etc etc, basically everything that is not a normal "bill".

That way, in a 4 week month, there is potentially £350 "spare" that can be transferred to the debt, and in a 5 week month there is £150 "spare" and of course that spare cash can cover things like car tax, unexpected new tyres etc etc, hopefully, without panic.

If there is anything left from the £200 at the end of each Thursday, that too will be transferred to debt/savings. However, this Thursday, I cannot see anything being transferred, as my online shop accounts for £130 of my budget, and we have already put £40 petrol in the car

    Time will tell........

Noooo! I wish!! It is a PAYG thing, where £10 gives you so much internet time with a 30 day expiry. So it is great if you know you will be out and about quite a bit over the course of a month, but if it is just to stop you getting bored while watching a football match, it is a bit of an extravagance.

Sounds like a very organised budget Hypno. Of course, Christmas fouls things up with the extra expense, but that's where the wit and wisdom of MSE and DFW's comes in! We can only try out new ideas and see how they go........

DS managed to get a lift :D So, not only does it save me money on petrol (I will give the parents a bottle of wine to say thanks), but I have my morning to myself to catch up on MSE, housework, drink coffee, do b!ngo, and the like :D

I still have to go out and do the mystery shop, but it makes my day much less stressful :j

Woo Hoo - there are days when things just go right!!!

The extra hour - while not catching up on sleep has given me some time to just chill out before I head out to my voluntary job. I've even talked OH into cleaning the bathroom while I'm out *RESULT*.

Hypno - can I ask you to explain how you make the money from free bingo? I've never played bingo and am quite interested in how it works. Your explanations are always so good!

Waving to you all - I too would be interested in a matched betting tutorioal weekend. I reckon between us we can make enough money to pay for Hypno's cleaning for the week; the residential costs and still have some left over for a glass of wine or three!

The free b!ngo can work in a number of ways.......

For example, some sites will give you a free £5 or £10 to start off with as a welcome bonus......simply sign up, play it through, and if you win, then take your winnings and run! Obviously they give you the free money to encourage you to stay, but we are more savvy than that, so any winnings, withdraw and move on.

Or.....look at quidco and topcashback - some sites will say play through £10 and we will give you £10 free......which on the face of it is not that great because you are risking your own £10......if you win, great, withdraw and move on, but if you lose then you have lost £10......BUT if the quidco/topcashback cashback is equal to or greater than the amount you have to initially deposit, then your initial deposit suddenly becomes risk free, and you have nothing to lose......and if you win, then fab, but if you lose then nothing lost over time once you get your cash back.

Of course, all these sites will send you little reload offers saying "we've not heard from you for a while" and giving you £2, £3 or £5 for example to play with - play it through, if you win, withdraw and wait for the next offer :D

Then there is a whole set of sites that you have to load onto your computer - bingo liner, bingo cafe and king jackpot - all through quidco, and all offering varying levels of free bingo at various times......but you do have to have them loaded onto your PC, so make sure you are ok to do that (ie not on a work computer lol).

Finally, b!ngo br!tain - deposit and play through £5, and they will give you £5 every day for a month for you to play on whatever game you want. So log in every day, play through your free £5, and withdraw whatever you win.......I won £15 from there this morning, so I'm happy there. Of course at the end of your 30 days of free fivers, they hope you deposit more of your own money, but MSE bods are unlikely to do that, so we move on and look for the next deal.

    Hope that helps!
