Hypno, thanks for the warning re: "the book". So far I have found the exercises in chapter 2 quite revealing - they are the ones regarding the effect on your life of being disorganised and writing down how different your life would be if you were organised. Lots of  moments there! I wonder what chapter 3 will throw up tomorrow?
I'm not allowed to start reading chapter 4 of your diary yet. I've whizzed around for 2 days in a row but not managed to complete many of the jobs - I'm hoping I can cross a few things off the list tomorrow. Although I may be led astray by a non-local friend who is staying in the area for a couple of days cos it would be rude not to spend time with her...
I have postponed my cleaner for a couple of days because the mess in here is even worse than it was 2 days ago - except for my bedroom. I seem to have moved it all into the other rooms.
Well done on re-arranging how you work your weekly/monthly budgets and I hope the new way works out well for you.Decluttering Awards: 🏅🏅0 -
It did take me by surprise rather.......I have read plenty of self help stuff over the years, but this is the only book that has actually had that sort of emotional effect - it really is like therapy! Perhaps I should revisit it again, and see if anything has changed yet on that level!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. Hypno, I am a long time lurker, but rarely post. I am interested in your info re Halifax - did you get a letter specifically telling you about this, or was it hidden in general terms and conditions? DH and I both have ods with Halifax, mine is only £200, but at the moment it is overdrawn, but as you said the cost is minimal. If I keep ovd all month, that willcost me £30 - a bit pricey for a £90 overdraft. But neither of us have had a letter. I just need to know whether I need to pay off my overdraft very quickly!1
Thanks in advance - liloLive on £4000 a year again for 20110 -
My mum got letter too.

Yes, we got a specific letter setting it out very clearly. It arrived on Saturday and it seems to be something that will affect everyone with an overdraft.
Thankfully my days of needing to live with a maxed OD are gone - another reason I am grateful for this site :money:Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
hi hypno, things must be in the air, i've just taken everything out of a useless savings account and cancelled all SO's and transfers to it and moved them to a slightly better account. I've always done the pot's accounting system, and for once i don't touch it unless it's for the named purpose. I think that's cos i used to get myself into bother by borrowing from it and now it scares me.
I've been thinking of moving to the halifax account which gets the £5 but the overdraft charges scare me. I still risk edging back into mine the last couple of days of the month and i don't want mega charges again.0 -

hypno, i'm gratefull for the same reason, time was when my net pay was less than my overdraft and it scares you silly.0 -
It really is amazing just how much difference this site can and has made - No doubt I would have made some progress if I had gone it alone, but I think I would still be treading water, and panicking somewhat about the longer term, had I not found MSE and stuck with it.
