That sounds like an incredibly difficult situation to be living in, duchy - I don't envy you one bit.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0

duchy i know where you're coming from. I'm living beneath the couple who would rather go to the pub every day (no lie) than do essential repairs to guttering and the roof, which means when it rains like this the overflow is on our patio doors and gives us a swimming pool in the living room and terrible damp in the bedroom. The owner of the other flat upstairs won't agree to replace the porch which is literally falling down as he rents his flat out and so doesn't live with it. it drives us nuts as we have made such efforts to get our flat looking fab but the outside really devalues it and it's beyond our control.0

Ye gods, Duchy, that sounds horrible!
It's wearing rather than horrible to be honest KC
At least I didn't have to be at work early this morning-unlike the neighbour on the other side who did.
They know they pee me off and do try to make up for it in other ways -for example they cleared my garden unasked when I was on holiday -and it desperately needed it. When I helped them out in another way I had mentioned to the girlfriend I needed to lift some paving stones and was dreading it a couple of days earlier-next thing I know the bloke is out there doing it.
It's not malice it's immaturity and a certain lifestyle they were both raised with which is why I haven't taken things further weirdly they are both quite endearing in some ways if frustratingly annoying in others.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Hmm.....I can see how that puts you into an awkward position then. Perhaps they will grow out of it over time?Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0

Hi Hypno
Drive very, very carefully. The weather here is dreadful but is supposed to be easing mid afternoon so i hope it's better by the time you get here. I'm sorry that the vagaries of public transport mean that i couldn't get down for a meet (not taking it for granted that you would want a meet, lol!). I hope it's not too horrendous. You are a supermum, not only for all the other things you do but being prepared to drive all this way in this weather for a couple of hours. Congratulations to the hypnettes for getting picked for England.
I am now going to get another coffee and definitely throw myself into the decluttering.0 -
Thanks angelaf! The weather here has eased again, so I hope that the journey is not too horrendous, but I have plenty of time, so we shall just take it steady.
I am now about to go and fill the car up with petrol, buy some tesco own brand sports drinks for the weekend, because they are a fraction of the cost of lucozade out of vending machines, pick up DD from work, collect the other girl I am taking, and away we go.....
Catch up with you all in due course - have a good weekend, and stay warm and dry!!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Ah well won't risk putting the washing out then
They are a bloody nightmare-Both nice people sober -but when they go on the lash it's a nightmare especially as they are both very jealous types. They were fighting in the street the other night after he went to the pub instead of coming home after work. On the up side they do always shut up when I go round and tell them to knock it off as I can't hear to work when he kicks off-and the language is vile too (and apologise the next day if they have any memory of it). I'm fairly careful as their friends are pretty violent but it's getting to the point that I'll be giving their landlord hell especially as he evicted the last tenant who was quiet and looked after the house with a lie about selling the house... because he didn't want a housing benefit tenent.
Sorry I'm just venting- it's a difficult situation -like I said like living next door to Jeckel and Hyde <sigh>
We had a similar situation last year. A woman and her kids moved on next door. She's recently split up with her husband and like your neighbour was pleasant enough when sober, but when she'd had a drink all hell broke loose.
She would wail all night, crying and screaming at the kids at all hours. She even once began hoovering at 2am - on a Sunday! She always apologised afterwards, which kind of took the sting out.
The final straw for me was when her kids used to smoke out of the bedroom window and flick their butts into our garden. When one puntured the kids paddling pool  - I went round. It never happened again, then they moved shortly afterwards to huge relief.
Hopefully yours will move soon too Duchy - I'll keep everything crossed for you0
