So....what's new then? Well, I now am the proud owner of just three debts - one at 0%, one linked to mortgage rates, so is currently at about 3.5% and one at 8.6% - none of them scary. Compared with the horrors of years gone by, trapped by APRs of up to almost 30%, with no way of getting anything any better, despite not defaulting, or being in arrears, this "new" situation feels quite liberating!
I have noticed, however, that in the life of my last diary, I only repaid £3000 (ish) from the debt......that isn't going to get me debt free as quickly as I would like, but on the basis that I have paid for DD to go to China later this month, and ski fees are looming, I am quite comfortable with that.
Compromises have been made, and generally speaking work well with the realities of life. Sadly, OH isn't earning as much as he has done in the past, and we have no plans for any more students at the moment, so that is a useful income that has gone too......so we are relying on the MSE "extras" to provide the ability to overpay......
BUT, the debt is now manageable, whichever way you look at it, and our "worst case scenarios" are in fairly good health, certainly no need to lose sleep over it all any more.
BUT (yes, another BUT), we must not be complacent, otherwise the DFD will drag on and on......we still owe £23,000 - that is a significant sum of money in anyone's book. And until it is gone, I cannot do anything more than lust after propety !!!!!!
So, the time of Boom and Bust has passed.......although with my failure to lose any weight since my humble beginnings on the Weightwatchers boards, perhaps the time of Bum and Bust is well and truly here to staySuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. From another lurker, congrats on how much you have achieved, and getting a better loan from barclaycard.

Greetings and blessings be upon you oh sister of the cult of Martin.
Have just been sucked in further - signed up for Quidco tonight so more pennies should be rolling in every time I shop for presents on the net. Also did a small shop at Aldi for a fraction of what it would cost elsewhere (Nargleblast now in smug git mode). Onwards and upwards! One life - your life - live it!0 -
