Picking out one price does not necessarily tell you anything. If all of us paid 96p there would be no insurance cover which would be dangerous for all of us. Everyone else is paying more to subsidise one person paying 96p which is not a realistic amount to cover providing car insurance for one year.

Tha same thing occurs with energy prices according to Consumer Focus which reported in the Telegraph recently that " "The energy companies are wooing new customers with cheaper online tariffs at the expense of the 1 in 3 energy users who are unable to access the internet. “All too often its vulnerable consumers, such as older people, who lose out and its grossly unfair they’re paying more for their energy. The sustained fall in wholesale prices should be reflected in everyone’s bills and not be used as a marketing ploy to attract new customers.”

I shouldn't worry. She'll probably be paying 600 quid next year now they've got her credit card details & if she's on autorenewal...

    I wouldn't think so.
She sounds smart enough to purchase a diary to me :rotfl:
  • Well...I say 'Congratulations Barbara'!
I wish I'd left myself more time to shop around for deals when I was renewing MY insurance last month - maybe next year.

This is what I got. 9 years no claims, low crime area, 10 years old ford focus 1.6. Car parked on street but is a very small narrow street with no through traffic as street doesn't really go anywhere

Fully comp, £50 access and protected claim bonus

Plus topcashback of £40 I did a few quotes and not much cheaper to be honest when you take into account cashback

I would like to know what the cheapest insurance quote ever received is. These cashback payments are the same regardless of your insurance premium.

Without any cashback it is probably £52.50
  • I would like to know how she got the Swinton cashback AND the Quidco cashback.
If you go to the Swinton website directly it mentions the £40 cashback and displays a code you have to enter to get it.
If you go via Quidco you are taken to a different home page with no mention of any cashback or promotional codes. By coincidence, the Quidco cashback is also £40.
I would not be surprised if one of them is denied if you try to claim both.
Just to confuse matters, if you go via Monesupermarket the cashback supposedly jumps to £100.
I bet whichever route you take, you will end up paying the same in the end - and it will be a lot more that 96p!
It's all a big con.
