If I had all the money I have frittered away since I got a proper job I would be in my own house with no mortgage now. How could I have been so stupid? Grrrrrrr:mad:. Well it stops now. I must be more organised and less lazy.
Stop beating yourself up about it, the past is gone now and you can't change it, just draw a line and move on knowing you are a different person who has learnt from her mistakes.
As for the organised thing - I love my lists...:DMortgage OP 2025 £7050/7000Mortgage OP 2024 £7700/7000

I know I have to look at the bigger picture and what's done is done. I guess you can only learn from your own mistakes. I have to find the balance between getting my own house by Oct 12 and wishing my life away.
I like my lists too, they are the only reason I ever get any housework done.

Wow, you sound so determined Sarah! The best of luck to you. If you want it then there's no time like the present to start going for it. No point in beating yourself up about previous spends though, we've all been there. I used to wear £150 shoes in my spendthrift phase, then nasty men would come knocking my door and I'd think aargh!
Skint Spice, I do love a list too and they really help me stay on track.
Bowski - I'm raging for you lady XXX'The road to a friends house is never long'0 -
Hey wonderful fabby friends,
Bowski - so sorry to hear about your car, am very very  on your behalf. I'm not sure about this but if the car was under 'care' of the garage, should they not repair the damage caused
.
Put it another way, if my car was at the garage awaiting repairs & got kicked in .. I'd be doing some kicking off myself.
Sarah, you're not going to like this ... but if you have cash in an isa, then this is potentially an emergency fund. Get rid of other sources of credit ... they will eventually eat away at your resistance & you will succumb to the lure of something fab . Paying rent on a CC rather than using funds available errr
.
If you really cant bear to cut cards up then how about asking for limit to be reduced, I have been considering this myself as I have enough available credit to seriously get myself in trouble if I ever have a mad moment. I mean really, what sort of emergency is going to require more than a couple of thousand
I posted the other day that I was considering using my cc to buy a car for my DD1, that's a BIG purchase, but can still be done for under £3,000 - not that I am doing it by the way

I know:o I won't be doing that again. I am going to pay off the cc, reduce the limit and have that as the emergency fund, which hopefully I won't need. I know I have the ISA there but if I use that I won't be able to put it back so that will be my emergency emergency fund. I am hoping to be able to put away 3 months salary in a separate fund soon so that I won't need to rely on the cards again. I have taken my card out of my purse so there can't be any more silly spending.Pay/save £20k in 2010 £5888.75/£20,000June Mini target 0/5lbs Total 23/40Ebay profit 2010: March £207:) April £95:) May £130:) June £0 Total £432:j0 -
Well done for recognising & removing temptation
I have just completed this [STRIKE]manouver[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]maneouver[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]manoeuver [/STRIKE] manoeuvre
myself with a glass of wine, it was the last in the bottle so it seemed safest to hide in my mouth
I'd forgotten about the removal/replace rules on ISAs  so it's a very good idea to have 3 months salary elsewhere too. I am still in flux as to whether I should have emergency stash or not
. Although I have now been told that I will continue to work 2 days a week until christmas & then 4 days as from January, I still wont be relaxed until it actually happens, particualalry as home job work is very sparse at the moment & I will be off work -unpaid
- from both Home Job & Work Job for 2 weeks over christmas then I am going to stash Work Job pay into a separate account so I can enjoy the time off without concerns as to how I will pay for everything

Am also hiding the wine in my mouth. One thing is for sure, I am going to have to seriously cut down on wine for the next year, although I have just remembered I have £30 of Tesco vouchers and £12 due next month so I could use those and it would be technically free. Have also just remembered I have put £15 worth of them aside for a mag subscription. Hmm. Also have £50 ish of nectar points which I was saving for something nice for my house:o but I might be better off turning them into vouchers and getting food.
I can't not have wine, so have to look at doing that cheaply. I can probably manage with spending very little on clothes again and I am just not going to look at shoes at all. Must cut down/stop take aways and make packed lunches. Must have treats so I don't get bored. Don't need many toiletries:o. Have been sorting books for the charity shop and have a huge pile of unread ones, so no more until they are read. Must use vouchers for money off food shopping. Must keep my eye on freebie board. Do not have the patience for daily clicks. Coins in piggy every day. Every £2 coin in pot. Must check online banking every day to keep track of money about to come out/avoiding any charges ever again.
I am going to do this. I do not know how I will get to £20k but that will be my aim and if I keep going things will turn up when I need them.Pay/save £20k in 2010 £5888.75/£20,000June Mini target 0/5lbs Total 23/40Ebay profit 2010: March £207:) April £95:) May £130:) June £0 Total £432:j0 -
Sarah, Do you use readitswapit.co.uk for books? Re clothes I work for a major retailer and can post on here when other stores are doing discount days for when you really need something. What would be a good treat for you? Lovefilm is good in Winter months I think, and give brilliant customer service. Excited for you. X'The road to a friends house is never long'0

Hello strange female type creatures. Haven't even had time to lurk lately but thought I'd pop on to post this little snippet of relationship advice.
If you happen to start seeing a football fan & find out that he's got a spare ticket, do not, unless you are a fan of the same team or at least a neutral fan, persuade him to take you so you can spend more time with him & then spend from 10 minutes after kick off until the game finishes whining on like a 2 year old about how rubbish it is & how cold it is & how you want to go home now.
I pretty much guarantee that the result will be spending less time with him, as in none.0 -

That is really kind of you, Souk:A. Will definitely be asking for help if I need an emergency going out outfit
. I don't watch enough films to use Lovefilm but I might start if I get bored when I am not allowed to spend any money.
Thanks for being excited for me, I am oddly excited myself as I know I can do it when I put my mind to it, I might need some nagging to stay on track though:D Pay/save £20k in 2010 £5888.75/£20,000June Mini target 0/5lbs Total 23/40Ebay profit 2010: March £207:) April £95:) May £130:) June £0 Total £432:j0
