    Hey all,

    Lula what a lovely post!

Well...my sealed pot is not so sealed now. It never was really, just a piggy from the poundshop but I wanted to keep it running til Xmas. I have however decided to keep saving £50 a month after my hols are over and will use this for Xmas. That combined with the fact that I had SUCH a busy day at work (SALE is crazy!) saw me opening him up and taking out £8 for the Chinese. Haven't had one for a while and I have to say it was lovley.

Off to clean bathroom, do dishes and hoover and i'll be back later with a red wine for some amusing 'chat'. X

Souk - I've not even been looking in the sales - I've stuck to the clothes budget so well. I nearly cracked yesterday as I was at work and planned to go to an open studio at an arts place afterwards.

I'm always super-optimisitc about summer weather so had just a short sleeve top on and it was freezing. So I headed off to Tesco in my lunch break for a cheap and cheerful hoody but they had none at all. I was really shocked and felt for sure they would have something for me!!!

So I left empty handed and so saved a few quid and wore my work fleece instead. Luckily the logo is pretty small.

I had a great time at the studios though, was on my own so could browse as I pleased. Some really lovely bits including some amazing jewellery but just can't justify at the moment.

I did buy a few things though, some lovely screen printed hankies for my Dad (for Christmas - shhh... I know I'm really sad) and a lovely ceramic tile for my kitchen (my plan is to buy odd single tiles to make a random, electic and gorgeous border along the boring splashback) some glass decoration things and some wrapping paper which is too gorgeous for wrapping but I will hopefully frame or find some other use. I've also come away with lots of inspiration for stuff to make myself and also details of some folks who sell stuff I really love and maybe I can save up for!!

I have to confess about a real annoyance. A while ago I got two cheap vouchers for a spa session via My City Deals. The plan was to take one of my best friends to the spa as a birthday present.

This plan was scuppered somewhat when we had it all planned, then when I went to book it transpired that most sessions were women only and they had only a few mixed sessions. We had to reschedule that part of the day and we arranged it for tomorrow. The problem is that the vouchers expire on Wednesday and this was the only 'mixed session' that we could both make.

On Monday he texted me about going and I asked if he still wanted to go and he said yes. Then on Thursday he says he can't go after all as he's got no money and can't afford the ticket up to town (which isn't a huge expense less than a tenner).

I've tried so many of my friends but lots of them are either out of town or have plans so I've no one to go with. I don't want to let both the vouchers go to waste so I'm going to go on my own but I feel really cross about it and also hurt.

We were out last weekend (at his request, he asked me to meet him for a few drinks) and he made a snide comment about my job (he doesn't earn as much as me although this is a new thing since I started my current job about 18 mths ago - before that I was on rubbish money and had huge debts) and these two things have really annoyed me.

He knew we had this planned so why couldn't he have put a tenner aside to come up to town???

I have to say this is most definitely the last time I buy someone an 'experience' for a present. This is now the second time in less than a year that I've bought tickets for something for someone and they've decided not to go and it really upsets me. At least a book you can read at any time !!!

And I've got to get over this quick as we're going to a gig this week as part of a group of 4 of us. Maybe an early night tonight and lots of sleep and I'll feel better in the morning!!!

£5 v. impressive for the year!!

Well done! I'm not that good but I'm not near the top of my budget yet and most of my spends have been either gym kit or stuff for my walking holiday in March so kind of required!

Aye, my work spends are quite a lot though, but most of the stuff I've worn out of work as well.

Too bloomin good for my liking - you make me look rubbish :p I just know that I'm not going to make it to the end of the year with my budget intact, will have to increase it somehow :o

    I know, I know, ebay ... *yawns*

Sorry to hear about your friend bailing out on you makeup - that really is rubbish when the fun stuff is all paid for, if I didnt have DD to consider I'd happily jump on the train to join you, purely in the interests of not wasting good MSE opportunities ;)

I cannot believe how chilly it is; my heating came on this evening  at least the blowy wind did get 3 loads of washing dry for me, will be spending tomorrow ironing it all.

I love the sound of your eclectic tile collection makeup :j there is a gorgeous Italian tile warehouse close by so I'll be happy to keep an eye open for any fab looking one offs for you, if you give me an idea of size & colour .

Must go confess my grocery spends now .. I'm expecting to be rather hungry before July appears :rotfl:

    Thanks Lula.

I'll measure my new tile and let you know the kind of thing I like!

There is a guy who does tiles not that far from me and they are really fab but they are expensive so I got the idea of just getting one or two from him and then getting other lovely tiles as I go.

Spa was good, I think it is good value at full price as well (£20) - there are two steam rooms (mega hot, large 1 with lemon essence and 1 with menthol), huge sauna, three 'roman' style rooms which get progressively hotter as you move through them. A freezing cold plunge pool, monsoon shower, bucket shower, two chill out zones (one with drinks, sun loungers, magazines & apples)

I spent ages in there and was so chilled out when I got home that I had to have a nap!!!

  • Oh god well i just been to mcr today shopping at primark. I have not bought any clothes for a year - bought nine items for £32.50 some of it for work too - then saw some more things and bought three items for £17. Lots of them were markdown though. floral dress was £13 and got it for £6. t-shirts were £3 and got two pack for £3 too, got leggings too for £3 and got a work pencil skirt for a £5. All these should last me through the summer. then got home on the tram and went out in the car to garden centre and got myself some runner beans, a red rose bush, a passion flower and bedding plants for £20.
No dates at all, and at work been on contact centre cover every day. When i lunched in mcr I realised how much I missed working there so i think I hope to work there again in the future. Saw the guy who plays JOHN STAPE in coronation street walking around shopping.:rotfl:

Just popping in to say hi. Finances are 'interesting' atm, borrowing money off family/friends until Oz payment comes through. Move house in 3 days too!

Hello all:) Am still here. I haven't been on for a while, a combination of things, am seriously worried about money as have had a few large expenses and a few more to come and am just about paying them by the skin of my teeth at the moment, work has been rubbissh and am not getting as much coming in as I thought I woul have and am having to budget very carefully.

I was relying on using cc for a couple of things but cc company in their wisdom have decided to cut my limit:eek: to just above what I owe as I accidentally missed a payment when I got the dates mixed up:mad: so I can't use it which is probably a good thing as it was almost cleared and I was going to close it anyway. So I am concentrating on getting that done asap, but things might be tough for the next couple of months, I wish I had saved the money rather than paying it off cc but it's done now.

Am seriously looking for a new job now but in the current market I don't know if it's going to be possible. I haven't been on for a while as to be honest I am struggling and just not in the mood for talking although have lurked a little. I know I'm going to be okay but I am sick of worrying about everything. With the cc gone I have no immediate access to money, I have enough coming in to cover everything and I do know I am going to be okay but being very frugal is now more of a fact than an option. I am almost up to my overdraft but am being paid next week and should be fine, I just get myself worked up about these things:o I am just sick of doing okay:o I want to be doing brilliantly:)

Anyway, am now amusing myself with tidying and decluttering and and feeling better for having a rant:D. I know I will be fine. Am just in one of those "I wish a man would come along and rescue me" moods. :D A man with a house that is so big he is rattling around in it and needs some company;).

That's the end of the rant and next time I post I will have everything sorted and be in a more positive mood. :D

    Hope everyone is okay:)

I haven't been around much either :o You have my sympathy and I hope you are feeling better now - remember, we are F Fabulous :)
