    Hello

Hurrah for new thread! Loving the title (of course!)

Disaster has struck my life....I got home last night to discover that in bizarre unrelated events I have lost use of both internet and cooker!:eek:

So I'm typing this at internet cafe to the soundtrack of a screaming small child. You know that kind of scream that cuts right through you and has probably damaged my hearing permanently....

I had to stock up on microwave dinners at Asda so not really using my storecupboard stuff but apparently cooker to be fixed in few days. It failed the gas safety check cos it has a glass lid and if you put the lid down it should automatically cut off the gas to the hobs but this isn't working  We never put the lid down, just use it as a splashback so can't believe this is major issue worthy of cutting off the cooker completely....

Plus our internet just stopped working - I spoke to BT but appraently a specialist needs to speak to me and this will take 48 hrs

In answer to Determined to do this - I think you can meet someone while clearing debts.

You need to be more creative about where you go and I could see it being difficult if you have wildly different budgets but I don't think this is a complete barrier to meeting someone and having a relationship.

Anyway hope you all have a fab weekend and I'll be back eventually at some point!
I've got my own flat :j:j

Now I have to pay the bills

And feed my interiors addiction ;)

Oooh hello, fabby new home to hang out in

HAPPY NEW HOME to sarah, all fabulous S.A.I.D ers' & everyone else who lurks here :j

Guess what I have tonight ??

A PINK Elephant by one hand & bowl of nuts by the other - yay :D

Would love to say that I'd started October by being frugal but so far I've gone through £185.31 so I'd be lying . Today all £79.39 was spent on just having fun, bar the £1.45 I spent on tea bags :rotfl:.

Took DD & Bessfriend to Chessington World of Adventure & had loads of fun. T'was bloody cold though so my heating is now on & I'm warming up my innards with the aforementioned pink elephant - the best £4.25 I'll ever spend... until the next £4.25 ;).

makeup - sorry to hear about internet & cooker, these 'officials' are just so anal. I was told that unless I safety chained my cooker to the wall it would be condemend as dangerous. Apparently when my child swung on it, it could fall on top of her . I did make it quite clear that allowing said child to 'play' with the cooker only happened when sucking the exhaust pipe of my car & putting the lighter fuel in the microwave were banned, but no I still had to get the thing chained to the wall, which now means that oven chips & peas lay dormant under it for months because I cant be bothered to unchain it.

Oh yes, in leafy Surrey your rottweiler & your pitbull can roam freely around your garden & take chunks out of poor delivery peeps at will, but your cooker must be chained up at all times :rotfl:

    More elephants required ...

    Hi Makeup

Any news on the house front? :D

Nope, spent all of Friday feeling sick and waiting for phone to ring plus checking my personal email obsessively.....

Assume this means have to wait til next Friday but will call up again next week if not heard anything. Lack of communication is disappointing to say teh least.

Our cooker is fixed :j but don't think internet is up and running yet

Went out last night for the £10 Pizza Express deal which was good value.

Then watched X-Factor which was a lot of fun as was accompanied by some lovely red wine! (3 bottles for a tenner in Threshers!)
I've got my own flat :j:j

    Hi SunderlandBlackCat

Very pleased with myself today. Went to The Designer Outlet with a friend and didn't spend any money!

Now batch cooking for the week.

Think that deserves a glass of wine.

Hello all, hope everyone is having a good weekend:D Just popping on to list all the frugal things I have done this weekend, am really going to try to keep a daily list:
    • renewed car tax online to avoid paying for a stamp and used debit card to avoid cc charge of £2.50
    • store cupboard meals
    • read papers online
    • received free fabric conditioner freom freebie board
    • coins in piggy
    • not used car
    • won £2 on the lottery
    • got £2.50 from quidco (car insurance has rolled over for another monthicon8.gif so should get £80 ish in October)
    • replaced the money I "borrowed" from quidco account
    • entered a competition to win a car:D
Think that's all, the real test will be how much I have left over at the end of the month to put into my ISA and house fund, I am at £800 in my ISA now and really want to get to £3600 by the end of the tax year, plus 10% in my house fund by Christmas.
    Pay/save £20k in 2010 £5888.75/£20,000
June Mini target 0/5lbs Total 23/40
    Ebay profit 2010: March £207:) April £95:) May £130:) June £0 Total £432:j

I made a load of Curries, Chillis & Bolognese Sauces + Rice & Pasta portions to go with them last week so my freezer is full now.
