Single and in Debt Part 3- The problem of surplus and excess women

Thanks sarah - wise words as usual
I like the idea of setting myself the target of getting under £20k as quickly as possible!
Sometimes it's hard to walk in a single woman's shoes - that's why we need really special ones!Total debt @ Oct 2008: £29,226.42 Credit Card- £[STRIKE]7493.56[/STRIKE] - £7243.56Weightloss : 0/34lbs0 -
Although, maybe I don't need quite so many shoes
OK, I'm gonna say this once and I know I'm being brutal so feel free to make mean comments!!!!
Why not try a 'no new shoes in 2010' challenge??
You seem to have quite a few shoes so maybe you could try? That way even if you do end up buying a pair of shoes you can be sure you really really need them and not because you really really love them?
I would find this really hard but if you think of it this way - the quicker you pay off your debts the less interest you are paying. Once your debts are cleared you will have more spare cash for buying shoes and the interest you don't end up paying could be more than equal to a pair of louboutins, choos or blahniks!
That's it, I'm done being mean!! And i certainly know that giving advice is easier than taking it!!!I've got my own flat :j:j
Now I have to pay the bills
And feed my interiors addiction0 -

I agree with make up, Shoe Gal. I didn't think I could manage on the clothes challenge but I only spent £10 between Jan and Aug. The main thing is to just not look, if you don't know they're there, you won't pine for them.
I think you should set yourself a challenge for when you come back from your hols, no new shoes til under £20k.That way you don't have to manage for the whole of 2010 and it will be a good motivator to get to your target.

Ooooooooooooh makeup - that was brutal
I know what you're saying but maybe that is a bit too cold turkey - possibly only a pair a month, or could I go as far as only every other monthSometimes it's hard to walk in a single woman's shoes - that's why we need really special ones!Total debt @ Oct 2008: £29,226.42 Credit Card- £[STRIKE]7493.56[/STRIKE] - £7243.56Weightloss : 0/34lbs0 -

Hi girlies, new to this and just found this thread. Not really in debt now but was at one point because of my shopping habit so I know what it's like. Also single (and fabulous) so mind if I join you? I LOVE shopping and work in fashion retail but other than that my tip for not buying stuff is NOT TO GO TO THE SHOPS!!! That's it!
Life is sweet without all that hellish debt so I just buy bits in my work in the sale and use the rest of my money for socialising in sunny Glasgow.
Hope this helps and so glad to have found this thread!'The road to a friends house is never long'0 -

I saw a dress last week which would be perfect as a wedding dress:o I did actually ponder buying it and worrying about the groom later:o :rotfl:It was in the sales as well so would have counted as a bargain:D I had to remind myself there will always be dresses. Plus it might be a bit wierd to have a wedding dress hanging in your wardrobe, I don't want to frighten anyone off:DPay/save £20k in 2010 £5888.75/£20,000June Mini target 0/5lbs Total 23/40Ebay profit 2010: March £207:) April £95:) May £130:) June £0 Total £432:j0
