Single and in Debt Part 3- The problem of surplus and excess women

Hi everyone, hope y'all good? Been missing in action for a bit as had a rough couple of weeks, hopefully fingers crossed got a lot sorted now and can get my life on track!
Still been reading all of your lots going ons- makes me feel better that it is possible to have a fun life, you lot manage it! And I decided that everyone is right, and I'm not gonna find a fab fella standing on my doorstep clutching flowers and proclaiming everlasting love. Unfortunately.:rotfl:
So I too took the plunge and joined plentyoffish- I never heard of it before, so thanks to those who mentioned it! Can't decide at the minute to be going for the slightly older who know what they want, in the hope of finding an actual relationship, or to go with my own age when it's probably going to be a bit of fun as single parents tend to scare them off...:(
Sorry to come in and rattle at you all, but i'm actually REALLY nervous about this, I haven't actually dated properly since I was 16- This is when I met my ex, and have been single since 21. I've had a bit of fun since then, but not actually been on ANY dates- how sad am I!I tend to meet a guy who seems nice, but when it gets to actually arranging to meet them I sh*t myself and stop contacting them. Time to grow up now I think and get on with it.
I hope I haven't bored anyone too much, would love any advice on internet dating if anyone has any? Or general advice on meeting fab men? Can't really join any classes because of childcare, so I'm pretty limited.
Hope everyone is ok and feeling fabby!0 -

Hey Clarabella
I've got a few friends who have dabbled in internet dating with varying degrees of success.
One of my friends met her husband that way and her advice was to meet them asap. She said that you can email / chat online but until you meet in person you have no idea if there is any spark. So she advised a bit of emailing to establish if any interest but to arrange meeting quickly. She had two dates on one day, one lunch date and then an evening date. She thought the lunch date would be better - but she said they got on fine but just no spark at all and she knew it wouldn't go any further. She married the guy she met in the evening (although she wasn't sure about him before the date!)
I think some sites are more about meeting for 'hook-ups' - one friend did well out of i-singles which is a free site.
Good luck though - have you tried asking about friends of friends???
No single dads at kids club at all?? One friend met her husband at the school gates, they were both single parents of kids in the same class.I've got my own flat :j:j
Now I have to pay the bills

Hello lovelies,
Clarabella, I would agree with makeup as to meeting up fairly quickly, why waste time
.
My experience of plenty of fishing, was not great but I think it does depend on the area you live in; the hot totty round here is apparently all taken & just the desperadoes & shrekalikes are left
.
A friend of mine recommends using a site for only a month & then moving on to another one, as you'll have sifted through what's on offer within a month.
Wish you lots of luck & just be yourself & obviously if you do decide to meet up, make sure someone knows where you're going & who you're meeting. You cannot be too careful.0 -
Hi Clarabella, I use the sites to meet FWB's and it works for me! I deffo think you should meet quickly and arrange a quick drink the 1st time in case the chat is not great. You can always extend it if it's going well. Also don't expect too much or that the 1st guy you date will be amazing, he probably wont and it's a bit of a numbers game! Having said that I think it's good fun and much better than sitting waiting for a man to knock your door (he wont).
Not sure about friends of friends, I was really annoyed at the character my friend dredged up for me and had to ask him 'Is that what you think I'm worth!'.
Good luck anyway. I've got a date on Thursday and a fit PE teacher called me last night but I missed it cos I was with someone else!!!'The road to a friends house is never long'0 -
Hi all, well off work today, have been up most of night with terrible stomach pains (s and d!) so have called in and am currently spending time in between dashes to the bathroom reading bits and pieces on here!
Hope you are all ok.
Sounds like a lot of us are trying to get back into the dating game... im seeing (as souk would say) a fwb.. but currently struggling to get enough time with him to get any benefits!! lol..story of my life! ha ha
Have updated my signature too..and realised its much the same as last year and the one the year before too...hmmmm I need to make this year a year that i make inroads into it..otherwise it will drag on for years...
Are any of you meeting up this year? i had seen something about a meet up but not sure who is going?when etc. Would be fab to meet some of you in person

Hey all, quick question. My Quidco funds are showing as tracked. Does this mean I'll get them on the 3rd of Feb?'The road to a friends house is never long'0

Unlikely,
usually tracking just means that your transaction has been noted. Then it will be validated, then actual payment follows that. Can take about 3 months from tracking to payment, sometimes more, sometimes less, it just depends ... :undecided0 -

Hello all, hope you feel better now Yargo, I had the same thing a couple of months ago, the worst part only lasts a day so hopefully you are through that bit now.

Am still doing fairly well on the frugality front, am living off what I have in the cupboards and not looking at any nice things on the internet:(. I am working my way through my book pile to avoid boredom and any temptations to spend. I did spend a little bit today as I went into Sainsbury's as I needed to idle away some time before an appointment and they were selling off swiss balls for £3.49 which I thought was too good a bargain to miss as I was thinking about getting one over Christmas and if I don't like it then it's not a big loss. Am a bit surprised at some of the exercises, I thought you just had to sit on it when you were watching tv and it made you thin:o.
They also had some lovely wellies for £12, am not sure whether to get them as it might be a long time before we get snow like that again but on the other hand I dont want to be trapped in the house again. Might use my Sainsbury's points as I have £50 ish on my card, but not sure if it counts as an essential purchase?
Can anyone explain to me how a dongle works? I was looking at a cheap pay as you go one as the connection isn't always great here, but it's not a wifi one, so does anyone know how it works and if they do can they explain it in the most simple terms:o. I can't cope with anything too technologically complicated so it would need to be something easy to do:o.

A dongle is a small box with a USB connector, you slot it into your computer's USB port and you use it to connect to the internet.
The advantage being that you can use it anywhere. I don't know what the service is like - I have a feeling that Shoegal uses a dongle to connect to internet so she can probably advise better.
Yes, you do need to do some exercises with the swiss ball. Sometimes sitting on it helps if you are prone to a bad back as it forces you to sit up straight with good posture and when my back is bad I find it helps just rocking the ball back and forth using my pelvis (ie keeping my torso straight) - it gives a nice stretch.
£12 isn't bad for wellies but I bet you could find cheaper elsewhere - def under £10 mark??
To be honest in the snow I just wore my trainers or walking boots and that was fine, still slippy though. I think whatever shoes you wear, you still need to be careful with ice.
Was going to suggest Moon Boots as are designed for snow but don't think you'll find them for much under £20 so not so MSE.I've got my own flat :j:j
