Hello all & welcome back Carole.

    Shoe Gal - tiling ? Wow :beer::A

Being a bit lazy here today. Have done washing & hoovering but now stopped due to lack of enthusiasm & the knowledge that after washing comes ironing  although hopefully my magic airing cupboard will perform its usual spell.

Contemplating going to nearby garden centre to look at sparkly bits & maybe buy some new tree decorations  . This will however, entail having to change out of comfy trackie pants & slap a 'face' on to say nothing of ruining another perfectly good NSD.

Ah sod it, I want to go buy pretty sparkly things :o

    back later
    xx

I actually had someone I work with make a squeaking shocked sound when I told her I would love to be in a relationship. "What? You?" but in a noise that made her sound more like a seagull. Yeah. It would be nice. And she said?

"You don't strike me as needy":p My act must be brilliant!!! :rotfl:

Exactly again... that's the kind of reaction I get. No idea why.

Oh and another thing that really p's me off is the 'ambitious' 'scary career woman' thing. I mean, WHAT?! I hit 30, the word 'assistant' drops off my job title and suddenly I'm a career woman - this from the same people who spent the first half of my working life telling me how dumb I was to work in the public sector and start in admin. Yes, I have taken the opportunities I've had and I've worked bl**dy hard for them - but I've never done anything I didn't believe in just to get ahead, and I don't judge other people by their choice of work. Anyway what else am I supposed to do? Say 'thanks very much but I don't want a promotion because it might scare off some men who are probably insecure and controlling anyway?':mad: ahem, sorry, rant over :o.

Oh and I don't want an FWB - I can't do half measures. I need somebody to love :o:p

Hurrah for Shoe Gal's tiles :j and Lula I hope you find lots of fab sparkly things.

    Rosa xx

    Thanks Rosa :A

And totally agree with the career woman bit  I am 43 - do people still expect me to be the office junior  I am good at what I do, work hard and am proud to do a good job - why does that make me unlovable

I have lost 2lbs:jGod knows how as I have been stuffing my face all week but it seems to have worked:confused:. That takes my total to 11lbs, so I have another 6lbs to lose before Christmas, which is doable but we shall see, think it might be a bit of a stretch but I will give it a go.

Well done Shoe Gal on your tiling:j

It must be  But doesn't it seem odd that it's considered 'needy' to want to be in a relationship  I don't consider myself to be needy, and any realtionship I would want to be in would have to be equal, not based on 'need'

I took it as a compliment, as in a back handed way she was saying I was clearly capable of standing on my own two feet and perhaps hinted that her experience of relationships is that they're there to help the incapable survive in life! Almost like having a carer!!!! Seriously, she was a qualified solicitor who once said, "If I had to do scrambled eggs, do I take them out the shell first" :rotfl: Now there's a woman who clearly needs someone around to make sure she doesn't injure herself with cutlery!!!

Carole, my FWB was an anagram of 3 things you could do together :o (Filty mind)

Rosa - you're so right about the career woman comments!! Even my Gran tells people, "No children - she's a career woman". Ah, well, I'll be wearing the unlovable badge then just because I'm a qualified professional!! Seems to assume that I've made a choice to be on my own, and really I haven't, and certainly not because of the job I do (it's good, but it's not that good!)

I do, however, think there are still some guys who feel a bit threatened by a woman who has a good profession and can stand on her own two feet financially, particularly if she has a nice home and car. Mind you, those aren't the sort of guys I would want to be in a relationship with. I'd rather be with someone who supports and accepts me in my career rather than feels threatened by it.
Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!
