Ebay seller (USA) wants to call the police

I bought an item on Ebay USA on September 9th. The seller sent me a tracking number.

I checked it a few times and it says "electronic info received" on the date and hasn't been updated since.

I haven't received the item so yesterday I contacted the seller. Cut a long story short, a few emails went back and forth and she implied she didn't believe I hadn't received the parcel.

At her request I phoned my local sorting office and gave them the parcel number, they said it hadn't been in the UK. They asked me to check the USPS site. All it says there is "electronic info received".

I told her this and she said she would report it to the police. I told her to go ahead. She then wanted my phone number and the address and phone number of my local sorting office and the managers name.

I told her the address and phone number but I didn't know the name of the manager. She insists she needs the name of the manager before she can proceed.

Basically, I think she thinks I'm a thief and wants me to back down.

What do I do next?

Forget talking to the seller, just slam in a paypal chargeback for item not received and then let her try and bully them.

  • Open an item not received dispute, you have waited long enough.

I do know from previous experience that things from the US have taken a month, but there is no harm in protecting yourself, especially as the seller sounds like they are being very difficult.
  • Thank you!

I was a bit shocked reading her final email last night telling me the police were going to be at my house within a week!

Complete and utter nonsense, the police wouldn't get involved in something so trifling, with no proof whatsoever.
Like others have said, slam in the Not recieved case, make sure you make it into a claim and see what they do then.

Don't let her bully you. Some sellers/buyers in the US are crackers. It's totally up to her to prove you got it. Not you. Your details are available to her on ebay anything else she wants let her get in online. Shes trying to scare you I doubt she will get anywhere with RM over here.

Deep breath and get onto Paypal and file a dispute for non receipt.
  • Thanks everyone.

I've now put in a dispute with Paypal.

My advice: never waste time on useless discussions when you have a dispute. Just state the facts and what you are going to do. Then do a Paypal claim and leave it at that.

If the seller makes threats keep the messages/emails and contact eBay customer services with details of the threats. You will need to send the the email headers etc. Do not under any circumstances give out any names or addresses!
  • This is getting crazy now :(

I opened the dispute and they replied with this message

"good morning. i have been in contact with this customer as of yesterday. we shipped this item to the paypal confrimed address. I have provided the tracking # for this item on the previous page. I am waiting for the contact person that she spoke with at customs as well as usps to file a report. the customer is aware of this. as soon as the consumer sends me the propper information i can file the report. We are waiting her notification. john Avakian 518-273-3522"

I replied that they know I didn't speak to UK customs but to my local post office as they requested me to. I still have all the mails from yesterday.

This feels as though it's getting ugly :(

Just keep your dispute with paypal open. Don't worry if you never received the item it's their problem not yours.

Ignore the cr*p that this idiot has put there. He needs to prove that the item arrived at your address. All this fluff is irrelevant and won't help him.
