You would be fairly typical. But some don't like free thought!
There's "free" thought and then there's "fact".
People "think" there is too much immigration and "agree" that it's putting pressure on public services. And, frankly - I don't care.
DO those people "know" that immigrants are the reason that the population decline has reversed in Scotland? Or that their taxes are contributing more than they're taking out? Perhaps, in the name of "national identity", they would "suggest" that the population of Scotland should be allowed to dwindle away.
Or are they "agreeing" with what you would call "loaded questions"?

Do you have some kind of software which alerts you to discussions about immigration?
You only ever contribute to those. I wonder why?
I wonder how the pseudo-liberal marklv will react to being linked closely with you. Perhaps rather like the shame-faced Conservatives do when asked about their decision to share platforms with those dodgy right wing parties in the EU.
This should be fun . .
Pseudo-liberal? I've never been that. I consider myself socially right wing and economically on the left. What do you call that?0 -

Clown.
Some limited immigration can be positive, but you only look at things in cold economic terms. I look at them in human terms. Would you like Scotland to be fully populated with non-Europeans? The identity of a country is its people - change that and you remove the identity forever. This is the big issue for the West, not economics or such like. We are at risk of mass influx from a third world that has more mobility than ever before. Western values and civilisation are at risk from extremist religious views brought along by many of these immigrants.
Now you will doubtless scream 'racist' and other insults. Flame away!0 -

It is hard to make the whole UK desirable enough to get people to spread out a bit. Also, I have known of English people being made unwelcome in Wales and Scotland and some returned. The Welsh often complain about the English incomers pushing up house prices. Whether it is common or not it would put me off moving to either place.0 -
Am I opposed to immigration? Not if it's beneficial (and it usually isn't), but importing millions of people from the third world just because they are the only ones to do menial jobs for peanuts is not the way forward. And I resent work permits being dished out like confetti to Indian IT staff who - again - will work for 1/10th of a UK salary. What about the rights of British workers? Do we not matter? Whatever happened to national self-interest and pride?
And here we have it again. marklv's self-interest. He doesnt mind immigration so long as it's not Indian IT workers because, lest we forget, marklv is an IT worker in the public sector.
Why do you feel threatened? Are you not very good at your job?

I think I bother to post on it as this Forum seems to have a lot of characters who seem out of step and overly sensitive from my perspective. If I am honest I like to annoy them because they seem to protest too much at what is the common, majority view.
Personally, I don't really think immigration is the "big issue." Just needs a little more control, perhaps like Australia or Canada do it.0 -

I do tend to read most internet forums like I read teletext or the letters page of magazines. I don't take them seriously or find them of any great importance so don't bother to post much.
The "crazy rants" are, strangely, fun to read but I can understand why certain forums are "hidden" out of the way by a logon and the more useful ones left more accessible.
I suppose internet forums contrast interestingly with real life, where everything is much more subdued, as the "little terriers" are less inclined to bark their opinions for fear of a "clip round the ear." Indeed, the internet probably is the place where "little terriers" can be safely tied up, barking.0
