I like that:rotfl:
And mini-muffin's-mini-minions...
Well I've done all my jobs -oh, hang on there's still the ironing -bum:(
I got some cod from the fishmonger which was neither cheap nor ethical. It is however, popular with everyone chez Thrift and British caught. I like to think I'm supporting those trawlermen who risk their lives to catch the cod. Deep sea fishing is the most dangerous job in the country, and the monetary rewards are not great at all.
I think I'll roast it with some bacon and serve with mash and peas.
Welcome MicheH :wave:0 -
MicheH welcome its lovely here , you will learn so much and it can transform your life

Mummysaver thanks for the recipe , i'm going to have a go at in a mo hopefully it will be ready for lunch , I have a baguette in the oven and it would be lovely with that0 -
Morning everyone,
I haven't read the thread yet, I'll do so later, but hello to all, and hugs for free over here to anyone who needs or wants one. Not mush OSieness going on here, WM on, Twinks were baked this morning, and I'm just off to get ready for w*rk.
Just wanted to ask if the recipe for Thriftlady's Pea Pesto is around somewhere? I've done a search on posts and threads, and can only find references to it, not the actual recipe, and I've got some leftover pasta for my dinner at w*rk which it would just be delicious with, I think.
TIA, have a gorgeous day everyone, Jackie XIt's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your window

Afternoon peeps
just a quickie from me today as i`m off to w*rk shortly. I`ve spent the morning sorting out even more cupboards in the kitchen and boxing little used things up. It will be a huge upheaval as we are taking down the old and battered cupboards that were in here when we moved in and then we can remove the horrible tiles from the walls and start afresh.
The plan is to get it all ready before the January sales and hopefully pick up new tiles and units then so it will be a work in progress for several months. We are hoping to be able to do most of the work ourselves but that rather depends on what we find when we remove the three ceilings that we have found are in this room
Curlytop - ((((HUGS)))) for you and your friend.

hi all:j
Cold day here today.
Have been busy last couple of days re assessing the wedding situation following the OH`s tax "problem"
Have decided not to postpone it but to change ideas and get married at the hotel we are having our reception in, thus saving money on the huge church fees and cars needed etc. We are now getting married at 4pm at the hotel and then having drinks reception/canapes and evening reception. I did want the ceremony at 6 to then avoid the need for drinks reception and canapes but 4 was the latest the registrar would do.
Also the vicar at church was becoming a bit overbearing about it all and it is impossible for me to take DS to church every week given DS`s problems and that is what vicar was pushing for. I had a bit of a to do with him when I pointed out that God doesnt only listen to you in church on a sunday and it should be more about how you live your life than going to church every sunday without fail:rolleyes:
So am happy that it is now sorted:D
Very proud of myself yesterday as managed to make soft white rolls which were edible :rotfl:.....making some more today.....I have come to the conclusion that they are never going to be as soft as the shop bought carp....in a good way.
Am making Hughs pizzas today...:hello:Thriftlady:rotfl:
DS off to his dads tonight so I have tomorrrow to get things sorted for going away on mon for the week to a farm cottage....cant do links but if anyone is nosey it is Lund Farm in north Yorks. Lots of animals there for DS and he gets to go and collect eggs from the hens each morning which he is looking forward to.
MSD sorry to hear your friends sad news
Bitsy good luck if they come today:D
Pink sorry you are having a tough time0 -
Just a quickie to say that Selfridges Santa's grotto can now be booked, £2 per ticket, and can print off conf email rather than pay p&p of £2.50. Really easy and quick to use and no probs unlike the Harrods fiasco!
Have booked for the kids and dd3 is very very happy!

Afternoon all.
Once again, so many friends here with sadness in their lives; ((((HUGS)))) to you all.
I've made Linda McCartney's potato & carrot soup for our lunch, and tomato bread to go with it. First time I've done the soup, so I hope it's OK (will find out very shortly).
Have to go and pick up some meds this afternoon - Mr LW is home today, and will finish his w*rk at 15:30.
Feeling a bit frazzled today tbh - Mr LW wanted to go to the pub last night, so as I'm trying to radically cut down on alcohol, I offered to drive. But I have to say I find socialising without "Dutch courage" a considerable challenge, even though I was sat quietly and letting Mr LW do all the talking. I just felt majorly uncomfortable, and like I didn't want to be there.:(
Sorry, needed to offload somewhere, and you guys got the short straw.:o
Off to see if any of my washing is dry enough to bring in, now.:oIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Right, I've done been and gone and done it, and it's all thrifty's fault!!!! Ordered Tender and the new Hugh book! In my money saving defence I went via quidco, ordered from Tesco as pennies cheaper than Amazon and I get my staff discount, and found a voucher code on boards for 200 points on hardback books!
Lamewolf - you went and you made the effort, don't beat yourself up, even the most social of us don't always want to be there.
Elona - nice to see you back again, hope that it wasn't too hard sorting everything out xx
Diva - sorry to hear your news too xx
Cas - hope you enjoy it, off to make mine now, done nothing else much this morning, so no excuses!
NPM - sounds like a plan with the wedding, some people just don't understand that church attendance is not the be all and end all, and indeed isn't always possible for some people for all sorts of reasons, he'd have got short sharp shrift from me too! I'm sure you will have a lovely day, and doing it all in the one place will save all the hassle getting around and is bound to be much easier for ds. Have a great hol xx
MicheH - welcome to the thread, everyone is full of great ideas here and you will find all manner of ways to save money that you'd never thought about! Poss best to ignore my last two posts, which are both about spending the flippin stuff!
Sunnyday - thanks, have saved it and will give it a go next week, might halve the quantity though, as I'm not sure I could eat that much lime pickle!
Jackie - I've been looking for it too, hint hint thrifty - please don't tell me it's in yet another book I'm gonna want though!
Pippa - have a hug hun, no words can help xxGC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
Lamewolf I sympathize totally....I am not a very social person either..I am always looking for an excuse to get out of parties etc as it is just not my thing. seems to be even worse since I got PND after having DS and am still on anti D`s for...have given up ever getting off them, if thats what it takes to keep me balanced so be it....DS seems to have completely messed up my serotonin levels somewhat.
Mummysaver thanks for the positive comments re the wedding.....and enjoy Hughs book...its fab;)0
