Appeared in 1-2 seconds (max) on my connection (Zen) in Firefox, essentially instantly.

Just updated the images so we have reduced the image size by about 130 - 140kb. Can anyone tell me if it stall takes overly long to load?

    Thanks
  • Your site is pretty slow to load.
I tested in 4 browsers [Firefox, Opera, safari and IE8].
My internet connection is pretty fast.

    I don't think it's anything to do with 123reg ;)
I noticed as soon as your site loads the uRL becomes a .sf instead of .html/.php. These pages can take longer to load in than others.

You're also using a tracker script which slows down loading too.
If you can get into C-Panel, you don't need a tracker. You can see all your referrals/visitors with the built in one you should have as standard.

    Love the site colours. :D
It's quite pleasing on the eye.

Instant load for me, but im on a pretty quick line as im at work.

Had a quick browse around the site, seemed fine to me.

Edit: forgot to mention, im running script blocker, so if others are having problems it could be one of the other scripts holding it up.

Seemed to load fast here at work on IE7/WinXP, browsing through the site worked fine as well.

    Off Topic a Bit
One thing that instantly sprung to mind was that the list of items in the price list should really link though to the catalog items as well. The first thing I often do when I hit a site selling stuff is take a quick look at the prices to get a general idea, links from there would make sense as well.
  • I'm getting about 20 seconds to load the front page and 10 seconds to load the products going off your link above.

If I type the url directly in IE its just seconds.

Just tried again at 3pm, loaded in under 2 seconds after clearing out my FF cache.

    Hey,

Just tried for the first time in Safari, FF and Chrome (sorry I refuse to use IE) and each took over 15 seconds with safari taking the longest at over 20 seconds. When I'm on the site it takes 5-10 seconds to go between links which is far too long.

I have a 20MB line and I'm getting great speeds at the minute so not my connection.

I think it's a couple of things. With 123reg you are probably are on shared hosting which is slow. I see them as more a domain reg company than hosting so I cannot comment on their speed. 1and1 are a good hosting company. That's a minor issue.

Traffic due to you listing the site here will have increased but not to the point of putting too much pressure on the server to get these times. I checked your alexa rank (rough estimate of your traffic) and your traffic does not suggest it's high enough to putting pressure on it either to make a noticeable difference but a contributing factor.

Your site code is full of scripts and these seem to be doing a lot of work (maybe unnecessary) which may explain the long load time. Images look good quality and may slow it down a bit. The most noticeable thing for me is every link I click seems to be forcing a lot more to happen than necessary (considering the style and format of the site doesn't change). It's almost like each link I click tries to get everything again, render, retrieve and work out what it's supposed to be each time. Most sites the first page takes the longest but since all the rest have the same style each new click within the site just needs to get the new content. With your site it really does feel like each link I click is doing everything from the start. Not my settings as no other sites do this. I feel it has to do with whatever backend you are using. If someone designed the site for you, consider asking what on Earth is going on.

It's a nice design but long load times (not the initial one but for each link within the site) would make me stay well away from this site, I'm sorry.

I'll have another poke around and get back but I am really frustrated with the waiting.

First whole-page load took about 2 seconds. Plenty fast enough.

As with Lee, I'm on a fast high quality connection from Zen (best ISP, can't fault them!), and it continues to load instantly

(PS I couldn't recommend 1&1 less, appalling company. Search the forum.)
