  • Trying to keep calm. My T's new policy last week of "number of coupons used mustn't be higher than number of products purchased" seemed at the time to be the final word from Store Manager. My T's changes its mind over local policy all the time and so staff never know what the current rule is.
However, Wednesday was a different story altogether. Different atmosphere. All staff knew the new rule- 10% max and that's final, so I left my shopping, all but a bottle of milk. I rang checkout manager for clarification later that day and she sounded like she was at the end of a very bad day. She said the new rule was store specific and was in place UNTIL THE NEW NATIONAL POLICYwas finalised. No mention of "have to buy the product". Same rule applies whether internet or not. So, I asked if you want to use £1.25 Gallo moc off one bottle of Gallo wine, you'd be refused at the till?" she just kept repeating 10% of transaction total.

Quentin - If you know more about the new policy, please tell us!

I'm not stepping foot in my local T's. I'll go further afield to one that takes no internet, because I'll get more MOC useage there.

A well penned letter to HO later on explaining why I'm going back to Sainsburys for their BOGOFs, Aldi and Lidl for fruit and veg and their best bits, Asda for everything else, oh and maybe to T's - just for their loss leaders.

I think we all knew this was coming. If this thread was a business threatened with going into administration then you'd expect the employees to rally round and come out fighting. There are loads of articulate, clever people posting on here who can devise a good strategy, write a good letter template to HO for us all to use etc.
    I feel a bit sick.
Ageing is inevitable - maturing is optional :p
  • Was thinking of ringing Dundee with a couple of queries - What's the MOC position? and What day it is?. Then had second thoughts as doubt they'd know the answer to either question...:rotfl:

Apparently there is a briefing flying around Tesco stores called a Team 5 or something. It states that from Monday they will only accept coupons if you buy the product. No ifs or buts. A few people I know across the country have seen signs up at the tills to state this too. Its meant to be a trial but not sure how long the trial will be for. Apparently its indirectly related to MSE Martins appearance on GMTV stating about using coupons without buying the product but Im not sure how much truth is in it.
We shall see what happens come Monday i suppose.

If this is just a trial then I don't think it will last long as they will lose too many customers, their sales will drop and so will the profits!

I think you're clutching at straws there, PC.

If it's on his website, he can do what he wants with the info.

A few straws is all I'll be able to afford is they stop MOC's:(
