Any sort is fine! Just a run with hills - it works the lungs much harder than the same pace on the flat :D

Okey dokey - can certainly find plenty of them round here!

Okay, so I've put my neck on the line, who's going to join me with setting a parkrun target to be reached by next May?

http://www.parkrun.com/results/Challenge.aspx

Dear Lord................ I'll join you :eek:

I'll have to root for my only Park Run to date to see what I would like to whittle it down to. I have a cross country club race this Saturday so I'll start the challenge next Saturday.

Will I really get out of bed on a cold winter morning to do this?

PS: Found my time. It was 25.46. I'll aim for 20 mins. Plenty of time to work on it, hopefully!

Hello all - winge warning!

Week 17 - W4/9 to Reindeer 10k
Mon 26/10 - no run - in London with a couple of blisters
Thu 29/10 - 2.12m 26:11 - this is the first time I have run any hills and I gave up after completing 2 of the 4 laps I had planned. I found it really hard, didn't feel like I got into any sort of rhythm & then started to feel niggles all over too  I wish I had just gone and done my normal 4m flat route today tbh as I am just feeling really deflated now :o

Anyway the run is done and I will do better next time x
Following :money: to keep us debt free :j

Hannah don't feel bad, hills are hard work and that's what they're meant to be. Well done for doing the 2 laps, the thing with hills is you have to take them slow and if you're finding it hard then set little goals on the way up. Once at the top use the the decent as your recovery time, and off you go again!

Honestly I did a lot of hill work in my training and it was always hard but achieveable, there was one hill when I first started running that I found awful but looking at it now it's more of a bump to the ones I train on now.

Once you've done hill work for a while you'll notice the difference on the flat. Hope you're Ok xx

A very nice flowing run tonight in pleasant conditions.:D:D

And just to show that you're not the only one that can do consistency, Simply, the first 6 miles took 46:09 and the last 6 miles 46:10!:p

There was still some restriction in the hip flexor range of motion, so it was definitely the right decision to skip the intervals this week.

Tempting! I'm wondering what a realistic target would be for me, though? 21 minutes?

P.S. And 17 minutes! That's a tough target, but I'm sure you can do it.

Why not? Challenging but achievable, I would say!:D

Get your email off to chris@parkrun.com before Saturday to be included in the challenge.

• Well done I'm glad you're following my example Rich :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Now I just need to run 12 miles at 07:41/mile

Hannah - I find hills hard work too that's why they're my least favourite run. I echo what evab has said - take them slowly and set small goals on the way up. Focus on something a short distance away - a car, lampost or something and when you reach it set another one. It does seem to help. :D
