If you want I can do you one in the next couple of days??

I never trust a plan that tells me to cross train tbh - just wasted effort at this point when you could be running!

That would be great if you've got time - will you shout at me if I don't stick to it 100% though? :rotfl:

  • Okay, so I've put my neck on the line, who's going to join me with setting a parkrun target to be reached by next May?

No I build in 20% redundancy (sp?) ;):p

(only Simply hasnt needed it so far :D:D)

    I'll need to know:
    how many days a week
which day you want to long run
    preferred rest day(s)
If you do any speed work now and what type
total weekly mileage now and longest run now (just roughly is fine)
Target race (kilomathon?) and any booked intermediate races

And an email addy by pm :D

  • Thanks for the advice Becky/Rich - I think I'll still run the hills tomorrow and take it easy on Saturday. The hill sessions are my least favourite and the ones that I need to conquer mentally so if I don't do it I will feel like I'm wimping out.

redsquirrel - I know Becky builds in a 20% redundancy but I don't tend to drop a session if I can help it. That way if I'm under the weather and can't run then I don't fall behind. :D

I can't wait for Parkruns to reach here - I've tried lobbying Active Southampton (or whatever it's called) to get them started and they've promised to talk to some local running clubs. I also saw on the Parkrun site that Portsmouth are looking at it too - so there's hope yet. :D

Seems sensible - I need a real kick up the *rse to get myself out of the door sometimes so hopefully the plan will help - and reporting back here!

Tempting! I'm wondering what a realistic target would be for me, though? 21 minutes?

P.S. And 17 minutes! That's a tough target, but I'm sure you can do it.

Thanks for the plan Becky (8:30 pace..gulp.. although that's what my last race was at so I can do it!). Meant to ask in the email, what sort of hill work?

Any sort is fine! Just a run with hills - it works the lungs much harder than the same pace on the flat :D
