Rich thats just the mass particaption and increasing numbers of runners affect. Back in 83 marathoning was more a elite thing that it is now ;)

Anyway first run since Loch Ness today to make sure my knee wasn't still !!!!!!ed.

9:32, 9:28, 9:40 (uphill a little), 9:22 (coming back home now so downhill a tad), 9:33, 9:43 6 miles 57:18 ave pace 9:33 woryingly extremely consistent there despite only having a standard stop watch.

I think that prooves that a) the knee is fine although it wasn't a overly hilly route b) that i can run to a steady pace sans garmin c) all because of the ipod :p

I'd be interested to see the finishing time for the 2000th (to pick a random number) male runner for each of those years, to eliminate the effect more runners have on the data.

Needless to to say, the marathon is now far less of an elite event. You can take part in what is effectively your nation's national competition race in the marathon. Not many other sports can say the same. Maybe I'll write to the British Touring car championships and ask if I can take part in my 110 BHP Peugeot 307 :rotfl:
    Running Club targets 2010
    5KM - 21:00 21:55 (59.19%)
    10KM - 44:00 --:-- (0%)
    Half-Marathon - 1:45:00 HIT! 1:43:08 (57.84%)
    Marathon - 3:45:00 --:-- (0%)

I took part in the jiu-jitsu national championships once, about 10 weeks after starting.

    I lost.

    :)

Anyway, another sprint session just finished, same as last week. Felt a fair bit less sick this week - so obviously didn't push quite as hard.

Before I forget, Rich, can you run some of your fancy numbers and tell me what kinda time I should be aiming for in the half on Sunday, based on my 44min 10k last week. As I've not run a half for a couple of months, I just wanna have a rough idea what I can set my pace at and still get round...

Hello runners. I'm glad to see so much serious running going on.

I'm looking for some advice on kit. I'm running regularly now and plan to do a few 10ks and cross country events this autumn/winter. The cut-off tracksuit I've been wearing doesn't really look the part at club events! So I would like proper running shorts or trousers). I don't know what to look for - and can't afford to spend very much, the prices I've seen are shocking.

Any tips on what to buy and where to go for good value items would be most welcome. I am a size 12 woman.

I have got most of my kit from the place that UK mentioned (its Sports Direct this week here! who knows what it will be next week lol)
Don't know if you have an Aldi nr you but they have some running kit in at the minute too, I got myself a jacket for when it gets much colder.
