  • Evab - glad you're better. Poor- Way to go, brilliant, well done! Hannah, don't let it put you off your next run, it's the way it goes sometimes.

Steve/Becky - glad you had a great holiday, I'm sure running in the warm counteracted some of the over indulgence!

I did a nice 4 miles this evening - quite enjoying the falling temperatures.

You'll be thankful for that coolness on Sunday, Simply!

Glad you're feeling good at this stage - you may well get more sluggish during the week as you gain a bit of weight due to carb water retention but nothing to worry about.

    Onwards and upwards!:D

I had my first run of the season in two layers yesterday - didn't get too hot, so I guess it's officially winter now :(

    Morning!

I know its freezing out there today - taking leggings and long top to frankfurt as the high there is 7 degree

Anyway got a cheeky tempo run in this morning:
    4 miles in 35:24 or 8:36 mins/mile

But one of the mossy bites on my foot is going mad - its on the bit on the top where you tie you laces and also where the foot flexes up and down and it huge now!!!! Hope it goes down over the course of the day

    Happy running all!
  • Lakefront Marathon

Interesting turn of events in this race - the 3rd place woman is likely to be declared the winner because the winner was disqualified for accepting a water bottle between stations and the 2nd place was disqualified for wearing an iPod.

Some of the comments after the article are amusing.:D

And this should be a good read (shhhh but I was in that race when he set the English record :o):

BOOK REVIEW - CHARLIE SPEDDING: 'FROM LAST TO FIRST'

    2nd October 2009

It has been 25 years since Charlie Spedding won the London Marathon and 24 years since he set the current English record of 2:08.33; in between those two dates he picked up a bronze medal in the Los Angeles Olympic Marathon, the last at that distance by any male or female British runners.

It has taken a quarter of a century for him to complete his autobiography but this should come as no surprise to those familiar with his patient and meticulous approach to racing and training.

Along the way to Olympic podium he encountered numerous setbacks - acute short-sightedness, poor academic attainment as a child, botched surgery and extreme reaction to anaesthetic in his Achilles tendon operations and often falling outside the scoring six for the vintage Gateshead Harriers team. This was a long haul. It is recounted with humour and great self-awareness, including the extraordinary solitary session in a pub adjacent to Newcastle Station where he put pen to paper, defined what he really, really wanted as an athlete and a person and duly re-invented himself as a confident and positive runner, setting 'perfect' rather than 'hard' training.

A terrific read, supplemented with an explanation of his key training weeks during his golden years.

And, UK, it looks like your 6.84m shot putt effort could be coming under threat:
