I'm sorry to say, Rich is totally right. I do a fair amount of voluntary fund raising. i've also worked for a charity in the past and these events cripple the funds in actual fact. The likes of St Johns have to squeeze what they can out of event organisers; what they get is pitiful, even for the London Marathon. And the other bad effect is people running in them and fund raising believe they are doing their bit for the charities, which they are - but the charity don't get it! Folk would b far better donating directly to the cause of their choice and gift aiding that donation.
I have no mis-understanding of peoples good intent, I just wish it was more honestly and openly reported on how and where the funds go.0 -

Hahaha 9:40 and 9:38 matched to 9:38 and 9:36 thats brilliant
Yep I did - its making some funny noises now though and there was some ugly burping on route :eek:0 -
Ha, ha I often get burpy on long runs - I always hope there's no-one within earshot when it happens. Still it's often worse than that - I admit to being wind assisted on occasions. :rotfl:
Hope your stomach settles soon.2021 MFW No.18 £9900/£10,000Mortgage at 21.07.20 £178,999 Mortgage today £150,8910 -

Waving a white flag as I lift my head over the parapet. You've opened my eyes. I'm committed to walking it with my mother now but will think harder about it next year.
