Morning all,
Well iv been really bad over the last few months( doing nothing) and really need to get back into the swing of things as iv got the London Marathon coming up quick.
Im looking forward to getting back out and doing the mileage, just too many excuses that i have gotten used to using ( these need to be stopped).
I also need to diet as iv put on almost a stone since my last run.
I really wish that id kept up the running now after september i know that im going to ache tommorrow.Running Club5KM - 25:20(51.21%) 10KM - 53:40(50.26%)1/2 Marathon - 2.14.57(44.20%)Marathon 5:11:00 (40.78%)0 -
You dont need anything like iTunes or mp3 gizmos.....just listen online.:D
KYCU - You can easily lose 1 minute/mile off your pace in these conditions but the good news is you could well be getting more benefit, training wise, than if conditions were clear and flowing along at normal speed. So dont get too frustrated, you're probably not losing (thats the word that the whole world seems to have forgotten how to spell:p) out at all.
Mascott - At least you're gettin out there, theres plenty peeps who arent doing anything at the moment.
JJ - It comes back a lot quicker the second time around so just take it steadily and concentrate on consistently getting out and injury prevention rather than trying to really push it. You've got time to get in reasonable shape by April but remember, if you feel it necessary, you could defer to 2011.Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Yet further indications of the stupidity of LM these days:

I know lets get people used to running with music and get them all banned at races! Idiots!0 -

I know! How many times do you hear the phrase 'I cant run without music'.
I fear that the coming decade will be the decade of the squashed runner! And how often is an ipod zombie on a bike going to cross paths with an ipod zombie out running....its all going to end in tears.Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

RICH - i dontthink that i can defer the entry due to being a place won by a competetion with virgin money. I know that i need to take it steady will just be doing slow runs to build back up the miles first and if iv got time then ill put some speed work in.
I can do both i like training with music but i cannot run a race with music ( maybe im just a freak?? )Running Club5KM - 25:20(51.21%) 10KM - 53:40(50.26%)1/2 Marathon - 2.14.57(44.20%)Marathon 5:11:00 (40.78%)0 -
I always think about taking music with me when I go running, but I always forget. I like the solitary running with just sounds of the street, I don't need to spoil that with music.DEBT FREE OCTOBER 2012!Proud to have dealt with my debts!0

I naturally lean the other way in this debate and nearly always train with music. Kind of needed for ultras as you will be alone for most of the race probably. I off course dont always race with my ipod, all depends on what race it is. If i know there is no traffic ie Edinburgh/Loch Ness i will use my ipod as its a damn site easier running to a set pace
That and a few decent songs get you though the rough patches in no time. Although saying that i did end up doig a 8:30 mile at edinburgh marathon last year as some good music came on and i er just blasted past everyone.

Hi all. Did another 5 miler at lunch today. Gonna have a rest day tomorrow so I don't go too much over my "weekly increase" limit. That should also allow me to do my parkrun on Sat and a nice long, slow (maybe around 12) miler on Sunday.
It's my birthday today, so maybe I won't be in the mood for running tomorrow anyway! Haven't been drinking since New Year so a couple of drinks may have a profound effect!
P.S. Will being 33 affect my WAVAs?!Running Club targets 20105KM - 21:00 21:55 (59.19%)10KM - 44:00 --:-- (0%)Half-Marathon - 1:45:00 HIT! 1:43:08 (57.84%)Marathon - 3:45:00 --:-- (0%)0 -
Nope - still open age category - a few years to wait yet
Happy birthday!0
