    Mon - 1.5 m wu & 1m wd 7:44, 7:29, 7:28 avg 7:34 total 5.5 miles
    Tues - 8.2 miles 70:37 8:37 mins/mile
    Weds - rest day
    Thurs - 6.2 miles in 60:31 9:46 mins/mile
    Fri - 4.6 miles in 46:48 10:10 mins/mile
    Sat - 6.2 miles including 3.1 mile parkrun in 25:01 8:04 mins/mile
    Sun - 13.8 miles in 2:16:23 9:53 mins/mile
Total for the week 44.5 :D

A decent run today as I was seriously hungover when I set out and my legs are very tired after a lot of quality speedwork this week - am going to take tomorrow's intervals relatively easy (say about 8 mins/mile) to give me a chance to recover for Tuesdays planned 10 mile tempo :D

Sorry to hear you're finding it hard Simply but | think you made exactly the right choice to quit on your run today. I would do either i. or ii. depending on how you are feeling after your rest day tomorrow - a few days off wont do any harm this early in the plan and if its stops niggles developing into injuries then its well worth it!

    Thanks all!
Well I woke this morning feeling really rough, throat was killing me and I was full of headache but by the time we got to the starting line I was feeling much better. The run was very different to anything I had done before, alot of it was a gravel drive, then really muddy & wet under foot. The hill was really hard and first time up it I ran it but was having to dodge round loads of people as most people seemed to be walking it, when I got to the top I slowed slightly to wait for my friend to catch back up as she had got stuck behind some walkers. Once we were at the top though I felt really sick and it took quite a while for me to feel right again. Anyway on the 2nd lap we both started running up the hill but then had to walk, which I was really gutted about as I have always managed to complete my runs without a walk but considering how bad I felt when I woke up I shouldn't be so hard on myself I guess. (and the mulled wine on the finish line was very welcome!)

  • Hannah, well done! You only walked the hardest bit, don't be harsh. You make me laugh, 'cos I do exactly the same, I really come down on myself, but hey, think of all those lardy types at home on their sofas!

Did 4.5 miles this evening, very nice, steady and controlled, no panic stricken breathing up the hill, so my fitness must be on the up. This week, I start really sticking to the schedule Becky sent. Routine is the key to being happy with myself!

I've agreed to do the New Years day Knacker Cracker 10K at Boxhill - I knew it would be tough, but the website says it's the hardest 10K in the UK - oh grief, what have I done! I think I'll definitely be walking up part of that! Last years winner took 43+ minutes! Anyone ever tried this one?

Thanks for all your reports guys, I think I'd have long since given up without this group.

Quick post as haven't posted for a while, feeling sorry for myself as have hurt my knee (no idea how) and have only managed 1 3mile run in last fortnight. Going to attempt to get docs appointment this week as rest doesn't appear to be helping :-(Feeling very sluggish and desperate for a run but attempts have not even seen me getting past end of road-knee almost appears to be locking?!

Well done Rich and Becky fantastic results

Massive well done Hannah, you must be feeling great a tough run and pb- brilliant x

I ran my 2nd inter-club cross country race yesterday round Horsforth park and the neighbouring school, I've never seen mud like it! went way over the shoes and nearly up to my knees, I nearly lost a shoe in several places but there was no avoiding it so I thought bu88er it, all part of the fun! and splatted right through the middle :D

My trail shoes have now been well and truly christened!

It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.

    Which reminds me...where is Poorbabe?

There's only 2 people left on the challenge without a recorded time.

If the ex World Champion at 5000m values a regular Saturday morning parkrun workout then it must be good enough for the rest of us!:D
