Great running, Simply - I take it you realise that you have just smashed your 1/2 marathon PB.......IN TRAINING!!!!!!!:D:D

I know it's great isn't it? I've just been looking at my data and I averaged 09:35/mile for mile 14. :j :j Now that I've finally shaken off the virus I had I can really feel how much stronger my legs are after all the training I did for Abingdon. :D

  • Steve - just seen the post where you put my time! How on earth did you find that out when I don't know yet?! Hilarious! Bev
  • hey Steve, thanks for that, it's a different Beddington Road route, the one I did is actually called 'beddington park 10k' And I can't find that on the measurement list. But now you've told me this I'm desperate to find out! Apparently it was changed from a 3 lap route to 4 lap different route, to be mostly on the path.

I can't believe I'm so obsessed to know I definitely did 10K! How those guys could bear to cheat is beyond me.

Oh and yes, thank you so much for the sock idea!

Okay, but I would still very much doubt a short course...organisers are more obsessed about avoiding short courses than runners are. In fact they are usually 10-20m long to make sure.

Another factor in your favour is that the men's winning time of 31:24 and the ladies time of 39:18 are about what you would expect. If it was 9.52k those times would equate to about 33 mins and 41 mins, which would be very slow winning times even for a hilly course.

You'd think they'd let us know the results or where they are! They did seem like a bunch of fairly pro runners - maybe I should know where to look - I do now! Did you see Eric's time?! Not sure what he did at Athens (he's not home, working in Worthing) but he's never done 47 anything before! I think Loch ness was his PB, I'll try find his result for that. Very excited for him too!

Everyone here is going great guns - well done, such a great group aren't we! Where's Hannah this weekend? Have I missed her post?

    Edit
53:38 was my hubbys previous PB - now it's 47:38 - exactly 6 minutes improvement, we were both banking on adding on a couple of minute, 'cos of the distance but we'll take Steve as the guru and reckon we did the whole 10K - very happy household tonight!

Ok, so that's prompted some more questions - how long does the 'marathon kickback' effect last? Will it go gradually as I start to build my miles for the next marathon or is it usually very short term?

It felt so good today I'm just hoping that it might last a little bit longer. ;)
