The Kilomathon looks interesting but a bit pricey from what I remember?
It definitely sounds memorable (and the sort of thing my school cross country runs would have been good training for - why did we always do it at the coldest, wettest, windiest time of year?!)
Kilomathon was £29 (£34 full price but I had a £5 off code in an email from the organisers) - it is quite a lot, but I wanted to do this one as part of my one fundraising thing for next year and the charity don't have their own places (despite initially telling me they did ).
For some reason the name 'Kilomathon' makes me think of Homer Simpson when he says 'Saxamophone'... :rotfl:Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -

Because it makes you feel invigorated?:p
To be fair, though, if you take the complete opposite, ie the hottest, driest, stillest conditions....then you're describing the Ufdance 1/2 marathon and that was a complete nightmare!!!:eek:Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

I LOVE winter running - I go running then I can be lazy for the rest of the day and not have to worry about going out and 'doing stuff'0

This is my third year that I've started running around October time, and then it's always petered out...Hoping to keep it going this time round though.DEBT FREE OCTOBER 2012!Proud to have dealt with my debts!0

I really struggled last winter but I'm enjoying it so much more this year - the thought of going out there is still not always appealling but once I'm out, so far, it's been good! Really encouraged by the fact I've run through this cold without feeling any worse - and quite possibly better.Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0

Now thats interesting terminology, almost as if there's a third party involved deciding whether the running will continue or not.
If you decide it will be a regular routine then it WILL, no question about it....100% GUARANTEED!:D:D
What you've probably found in previous years is that you've lost the answer to the question 'Why?' or it has become fuzzy and the effort doesnt seem worth it.
But thats usually due to the initial reason being either a poor one, such as to lose weight or to get fit which by definition lose importance as you lose weight or get fitter, or because there were no specific targets for 3, 6, 12 months and further into the future.
A big positive is that you've now got the parkruns to keep you interested and to measure your fitness by over time. You'll probably find yourself getting competitive with those that are just in front of you each week......;)Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

I saw that earlier....I suspect he didnt get there (although he has been online this morning).
Must have been tough going if a very flat marathon had a winning time of 3:00:00....I dont think I've ever seen a marathon won in a time beginning with a '3' before.........even fell races struggle to get over 3 hours!
Edit: Having said that, just checked and the winner, Andy Sly, has run 6 marathons this year ranging from 2:48:06 in Paris and 2:49:43 in London through to yesterday's 3:00:00.....so maybe conditions weren't that horrendous after all.
And the guy in 2nd has run 20 marathons this year all in the range 2:57:33 to 3:11:39 except Snowdonia which took 3:18:46. So 3:04:36 yesterday was pretty much a par score for him.
So where are you KMS?Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Bah, the sparky was still round my place on Sat, so no parkrun for me. Next Sat is definitely in the calendar though. Anyone going to the Wimbledon one? If not, I might give Roundshaw Downs a go. It's a bit easier for me to get to.
As for that guy who's done 20 marathons a year, I'd have thought a half dozen would be plenty. Is there any fitness benefit in running this many marathons?!Running Club targets 20105KM - 21:00 21:55 (59.19%)10KM - 44:00 --:-- (0%)Half-Marathon - 1:45:00 HIT! 1:43:08 (57.84%)Marathon - 3:45:00 --:-- (0%)0
