Wow bj the trainers at your club sound amazingly sensible0

yeah, not too fancy, well equipped gym, set in a park with tennis courts and a running track nearby, so pretty good all round. But not posh enough for the cappuccino brigade!
By the way, are you sure you haven't just got twigs stuck in your knickers from your fall?! ha ha!0 -
Anyone park running tomorrow? I shall, but I must say, after last week, I'm a bit scared of the weather! What if it's as wet as last week, and windy - OMG! I'll go backwards!0

I agree, Bj, more coaches/trainers like the one at your club are whats needed. Maybe we'll stop seeing so many people hobbling about with knee/ankle supports and assorted bandages then.
But you can still fall over training for 10ks so there will still be a bunch of people hobbling due to buttock damage.:p
And you're right about the marketing thing - the 'complaints' and whinging seem to come from those who have done a couple of corporate type events, ie Bupa/VLM etc and then enter a 'club race' and think they have the right to criticise the organisers who are merely volunteers doing their best, not for personal gain but to help their club and the sport.
The organisers used to be well respected and would often spend the evening 'not having to buy a drink' because it was tradition for runners to show their thanks for the organisers often giving up their own chance to race.
You can see why, now that they seem to get more criticism than thanks, that a lot of organisers wonder whether its worth it.
It is the old ethos of taking it in turns to be the 'organisers' that Paul Sinton-Hewitt is trying to re-establish with the parkruns. At the end of the day, there are no grounds for complaint when you're not paying anything anyway but once you've been involved in organising a race or two the last thing you're going to do is criticise someone else giving it their best effort.Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Evening peeps, sorry to butt in on your debateI agree about the goody bag/medal business - I'm not fussed about receiving them at the end of a race. As long as there's water I'm happy (I am rather proud of my Abingdon medal though).
I've had to switch my runs about this week as we're off visiting family this weekend - so it was Sunday's LSR tonight and I'll do my 6 hilly miles on Sunday. That won't be difficult as my OH's mum lives at the bottom of a big hill  No calf pain or soreness tonight so last night's recovery run obviously did it's job.
Good luck with your race tomorrow Rich - the wind will make it a nice challenge for you.2021 MFW No.18 £9900/£10,000Mortgage at 21.07.20 £178,999 Mortgage today £150,8910 -

HaHa! Just been reading and catching up since yesterday.
Dare I say I've entered the GNR for 2010 :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I know it's expensive but really enjoyed the atmosphere last year and I only have to jump on the Metro into town, but it cost £44 which is pretty scandelous really!
Me and my OH have our medals on the side of our wardrobe hanging upGood wine needs to breathe, if it stops breathing try mouth to mouth.0
