You're not wrong about it being blustery Rich - it stopped me in my tracks too.
I wasn't able to run this morning as I had an early meeting so I took the opportunity to run home from work tonight. I've not run this route since the summer and was pleased to find that despite two bridges and a steep hill it was a comfortable run; I used to find it quite challenging.
The only problem I had was that my calves felt sore - it's not something I've experienced before and I haven't done anything differently so I'm not sure what might have caused it. Any ideas anyone???
Being 2 days after an interval session, that is almost certainly the culprit even if you havent had sore calves after intervals before.
You mentioned at the time that it was more of a struggle than previous sessions, so the tendons etc may have been a little inelastic causing some micro-tears........nothing to worry about though!:D:DGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Thanks Rich. I didn't think about it being due to the intervals - I'd better get used to it then2021 MFW No.18 £9900/£10,000Mortgage at 21.07.20 £178,999 Mortgage today £150,8910

I've been on the runningn track again tonight. 7 x 400m circuits with a 40 second recovery between them. We were allowed 58 seconds for the first 200m, then 68 seconds for the second 200m as we were running into a very strong wind. I managed to keep to the times on the first lap and then took up my usual position lagging behind at the backGood wine needs to breathe, if it stops breathing try mouth to mouth.0

:TDoesn't matter, you did it!
...Linda xxIt's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.0 -

Hard run this morning, dragged myself out of bed- really had to work hard to convince myself to go out felt so tired. mile tempo run planned, but decided that just running 4 miles would be an achievement the way I was feeling- as dark had no idea of pace but legs felt heavy and felt slow. Very pleased when checked garmin when home. 4.02miles (9.16/mile). Off to Penrith saturday for weekend so hoping to get 9mile run is, but weather looks interesting..... fingers crossed.(Family of 5: 2 adults & 3 children aged 7yrs, 4yrs, and 18months)0

Hmmm the wind forecasts for tomorrow have changed....but unfavourably.
Last night it was predicted as 26mph SE, now its 35mph SSE.
35mph would be great if it was E or ENE but I fear a bit of a struggle is going to be had.:eek:Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Oh dear! Is this what it now boils down to?
Racing is racing not a way of collecting a drawer full of momentos. Best not tell this chap about parkruns.....what, not even a cup of water!!:pGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

To be fair, he seems to be complaining that it's poor value for money. If you pay a certain amount, you expect something back. So if you don't get any "freebies" the entry cost should be lower.
That's how I read it anyway. I'd rather pay less and do without the goodie bag, personally. And those that want a t-shirt can buy one.
I don't agree with his point that this is the poorest value race though. £8 isn't much compared to some of them. OK, it's more for coach and parking but no one's making you use those services.Running Club targets 20105KM - 21:00 21:55 (59.19%)10KM - 44:00 --:-- (0%)Half-Marathon - 1:45:00 HIT! 1:43:08 (57.84%)Marathon - 3:45:00 --:-- (0%)0 -

I think I paid £12 or something for the blenheim one and didn't get *anything* for that, in terms of goodies - just a couple of water stations. I did, however, get to run around a stunning course through grounds you normally have to pay to wander round, so it was still stella value.
As the guy says, £8 to run along an A road with no trinkets in return is just really poor value. For £8, I probably wouldn't bother writing a moan about it. For £10+ I would though...and for £20+ they'd better be giving me a t-shirt...or I'll sulk!0
