Good morning all
Haven't read/posted since Tuesday am so it was a bit of a shock to hear your sad news, Bargainbird. (((Hugs))) for you and your family.
Day off today so catching up on housework. Another sunny day here. Need to go out later to get some trousers for work and some groceries, including a couple of bottles of gin:D to do some sloe gin. Otherwise, not much to report.
Hope everyone is ok, have a good day,

Morning :hello:
Bit dull here so far, might brighten up later, says she hopefully
I have a load of sheets in the WM and was hoping to get them out on the line for a blow
Been so busy since we got back, clearing up, washing and sorting out, need to get the vac out and then do the ironing (unless I can come up with an excuse to leave it) not my favourite chore I must admit;)
Havent even thought what to do for Dinner tonight, have a pasta bake lurking in the freezer, I'll go dig it out.
I was making little pom-poms last night and the mess I've made....anyone would think it was one of the DGD's who'd done it..... hence the need for the vac:rolleyes:
Pen-Pin - hope your joints ease a bit as the day goes on,shame about the tart sounded so nice too
Bitsy - have you tried taxing the car on-line it saves time queuing at the PO, I do mine like that now and the disc comes in a couple of days.
mummysaver - hope your cold disapears soon
taplady - good luck with the quiz
bargainbird - (((hugs))) for you and your family I feel for you all. Its 4 years tomorrow since my sister died suddenly and it still hurts like hell
JackieO - fingers crossed for your DD's interview
Better go get started or nothing will get done, I think I relaxed so much at the 'Van I have completley unravelled;):rotfl:
Have good days all

Greetings, all.
I've been AWOL for the last few days, sorry. Truth be told I'm still slogging away on DS's room. Nearly finished though...the shelves have been stripped and rebuilt, he's got a big desk space now and the telly/xbox/Wi have been shuffled into a better position. He's now on the scrounge for a TV arial and LAN cable in there, so he can have live telly and his PC through there but I think not, not at 13 anyway. His PC can stay in the lounge for now.
And I got rid of two boot loads of junk to the tip, recycling and charity shops etc. :T
Not finished yet though, got to clean it. Carpet looks a bit horrific. And one wall needs repainting but that can wait for a bit. Downside though is that it all looks so good his little sister now wants her room done the same way. Now that really WILL be a hard task. DD is a squirrel, a horder, a stuffer of things in dark corners. But you have to strike while the iron is hot, no? Which is why I've been in there this morning and already pulled out two bin liners of horrid little things, hehe. Well, she did ask!
On another note, I got offered another job. I do a lot of informal teaching of beginners spinning and word is getting around and I'm being offered some tutoring work. This particular offer would have been quite fun, but I just can't do it. Hubby works such long hours he's sometimes not back till 10pm, out at 5.30am and weekends he just wants to slump, so it's not fair to clog up his every Saturday with childcare. And people don't want spinning classes during the weekdays in school hours, unfortunately. Oh well, life evolves, there will be other opportunities.
The best part of all this decluttering is that I'm not out spending money, yeah. We have been eating out the freezer and storecupboad, with is always quite interesting. But I will need to go and visit Ikea next week for a couple of shelves etc.
Finally, ((( bargainbird ))), I read your sad news. I'm very sorry to hear of your loss and hope that you and all BIL's nearest and dearest are managing to cope, and make some sense out of this tragedy.Val.0 -
Pink - big hugs to you and your dd, if she was closer to Somerset I could have gone and played surrogate mum for her, hope it won't be too long before you see her xx
Thrifty - thanks for the chorizo report! I'm thinking that meatballs are probably the best use for it then, kids will prob insist on me doing them that way all the time though!
Just wanted to mention that savingforoz is organising another OS meet up in Bristol on 31st October, in the pub again! So if anyone is within distance and fancies joining us either pm me or SFO or have a look for the thread she's started. Morning all:wave:
Very excited about my sour dough adventures:j I've kneaded my first loaf and it will be ready to bake later today. I've gone into more detail on the handmade bread thread. I'm so glad that thread is popular at the moment. I think it's nice for new posters to see that OS isn't all about gadgets:D
Breakfast today was bacon rolls for the kids, damson yogurt for me. Apparently yogurt isn't filling enough for me as I was absolutley starving half an hour ago and have now polished off two choc chip muffins. Should have had a bacon roll too:rolleyes:
Lunchboxes have little potato and bacon pasties (damn! bacon twice:doh:), a roll with blackcurrant jam in, a muffin and an apple. OH has a bigger pasty with some blue cheese added to the potato and bacon. The filling is actually leftover potato, onion and bacon hotpot.
Supper will be parsley, walnut and blue cheese pesto with greenbeans and pasta.
Did anyone see Nigel Slater last night? He had some lovely ideas; pasta with sausage, mustard and cream sauce, green beans with melting cheese and ham, blackberry, meringue and cream sundae, carrot and coriander fritters, pork chops with apples and cider and smoked haddock and leek chowder. I might make something like the chowder tomorrow:think:
I really should get off my bum and go for swim. There's a ladies' session at my pool between 12 and 1pm. Am feeling really lazy:rolleyes:0 -
Mummysaver - oh darnit! Just agreed last w/e to go to London (well Hemel) the w/e of Oct 31st so DH can help fit a new kitchen for my best mate's mum (and I can play with my Godson!). Would really love to see everyone again too (and there's a lot more of me for you to see now LOL!).
Could have sworn I posted yesterday, but can't find it now - oh well - here goes again....fianlly have made some headway at work! I am now on 'garden leave' as of yesterday and due to be 'terminated' on 9th Oct (will keep my eyes open for Arnie - as I said to the HR c*w - but it went totally over her head - she just has no sense of humour that woman!). They have made me an offer which, while not as much as I might have hoped for, is at least more than the measelly 3 weeks statutory, and means I don't have to wait around for a month on notice twiddling my thumbs!
Still waiting for the paperwork to come through, and got to sort out loads financial stuff now, but at least it is progress!
Have a good day everyone. I'm off tomorrow for a long w/e, so back on Tuesday!

Hello Everyone :hello:
Late posting from me as was in a mad rush this morning - dont even know why
Have run a couple of errands, been to asda & got enough meat for at least 7 meals :jand got the !!!!! cat a new reflective collar & name tag. Just about to put some washing on the line (its beautiful here again) then make fish pie for dinner tonight. The rest of the afternoon will be spent finally getting rid of the ironing pile. May also try and get to the library later.
Had to go out with OH last night to fix a broken down lorry, didnt get in till 11.30 & boy was it hard getting up this morning, not long till the weekend thankfully. OH went to work very early this morning, is now home but in bed - headachy, dizzy & sick  hope he feels much better when he wakes.
Off now - dont want to hang around in the office as I am trying to ignore the quite big pile of paperwork.
Catch you later.x
(((Bargainbird)))
Oh I tried to write !!!!! - please read as puddy! lol0 -
Afternoon all.
The sun is shining on the Concrete Cows today, so 2 lots of washing are duly blowing in the breeze.
I can't believe the year is 3/4 over already - where's the time gone? I've had a note on my "to do" list for ages to sit down and design some Yule cards; I really will have to get my backside in gear and get on with it. I want to try and do my own this year as I can never find anything quite right in the shops.
I have something of an evening off tonight, as Mr LW announced his intention to do us egg'n'chips for dins tonight. Hey, who am I to argue.
:D
I hope the weather holds over the weekend, as the garden looks more like a wilderness than anythin right now.
((((HUGS)))) for all who want/need one today. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0
