Not a bad day today. Did some food shopping with my mum and just vedging out this evening.

    My progress today is:
    1. Fill my tin can full of pound coins = £100 (10% cleared) - Another £3 in the tin so up to £31.
    2. Sell items on eBay (mainly jewellery but other things too) = £100 (20% cleared) - Listef 4 items tonight which will hopefully get me £100. A bid for £9.99 already.
    3. Sell Amazon vouchers from BP on eBay = £50 (25% cleared) - My voucher went for £12.52 which is great as I should clear £10 even after the fees. Another great thing today is that I got a CD for my auntie from Amazon with some credit I already had on there. She will give me the £9 back when it arrives so I am going to count that as an Amazon voucher sold. I have moved the money into my savings account. Will withdraw the ebay voucher money when it gets paid.
    4. Get £50 cheque from Dooyoo = £50 (30% cleared) - I haven't done any reviews today but will do a few tomorrow.
    5. Get £600 from AQA during December = £600 (90% cleared) - Can't start until December.
    6. Get £100 from mystery shopping = £100 (100% cleared :D) - No more progress here.
    See you all tomorrow

  • Hi Emily

I've been reading through a lot of your threads and find your outlook and attitude really inspiring. You come up with some great ideas.

I am on a DMP with approx £31k owed to 10 creditors-wondered if you would mind some company with this challenge-would be great to move my dfd closer.

    Hi everyone

Sorry I haven't posted for a while. A lot has been happening.

I had a nightmare at work the other week, basically my boss said that I wasn't up to doing my job anymore and suggested that I move to a different team. I flatly refused to do this as I am more than capable of doing my job, she just has it in for me! Since then I have been keeping my head down and doing my work, ie not giving her any cause for complaint. It really upset me at the time, it was like someone telling me I was useless and needed to be put down or something. If she mentions it again I am going to report her for discrimination against a disabled person.

Anyway, on a happier note, I am moving into my new flat on 9th January :j:j. I can't believe I am actually moving, I am so excited. I just can't wait. I am handing in my notice tomorrow when I pay my rent.

However, this does mean my debt free plan will have to go on hold for a bit. I have just paid out £184 in fees, I have to find £725 for a deposit when I move in on the 9th (will get £550 back from this house hopefully) and there are some bits and pieces that I will need for my new flat (a new sofa is a must, I can't cope with the 20 year old one I have which is covered in cat hair!).

I am on a mission to sell what I can so that I can fund this move. There are a lot of things that I don't need in my flat so will sell those. I have been buying little bits and pieces as I go along too. I've got a dinner set (bought for £6.50 from Argos, was £26!), some new cutlery (£10 from Tesco) and some glasses (£3.50 from Tesco) so not doing too badly.

I don't want to take any rubbish with me and want my flat to be clutter free and clean at all times! So instead of debt clearing, my tasks for the next month will be to clear a drawer, pack a box, get rid of some rubbish etc every day and also to list 5 items on Gumtree or in my local paper every day until there is nothing left that I need to sell. I will relist items until the last possible minute and if they don't sell, will put them on Freecycle.

I also want to do as much in AQA as I can. Won't be easy with packing and everything but I need as much money as I can to fund the deposit, rent and sofa.

Emily - sorry to hear about your boss. Surely what your boss said must already be discrimination? I don't know much about it but blimely I wouldn't have thought they could just say things like that. Speak to citizens advice?? I thought employers were meant to make adjustments for people with disabilities so they can stay in employment. Your boss is an !!!!!.

Good news on the flat - sounds really good. You've picked up some bargains too.

Good luck with the packing! Can't say I envy you as I hate moving :roftl: but worth it in the long run.

    Hi everyone

Busy day yesterday. I handed in my notice on the house, my landlady was quite upset, she said I was a model tenant :D. They have said I can stay on until the 9th with no extra charge (2 days extra) which is kind of them. They are also going to give me back my full deposit, not that I have done any damage to the house anyway.

I am going to fill in my rental application tonight and hand it in with my proof of ID and address tomorrow so that will get the ball rolling on my references and credit check (fingers crossed I pass - I have no CCJs but have a few defaults due to DMP. My mum will go guarantor for me if I fail which will cost me another £30-£40 in fees).

I have picked out my sofa from DFS: http://www.dfs.co.uk/sofas/fabric/carlos/. I'm going for the 3 seater formal back in mocha. It is really comfy and such soft fabric. I'm not going down the credit route as a) I don't think I would get it and b) I don't want to get anything else on credit. So I need to put down £60 as a deposit and pay the rest before it gets delivered (£535) - guess who is going to have to hit AQA hard over the next few weeks?! Will order that at the weekend.

    So, jobs for tonight are:
    1. Go around my bedroom with a bin liner and chuck out any rubbish (my bedroom is a state).
    2. Go around downstairs with a bin liner and chuck out any rubbish.
    3. Go around bedroom with a box and chuck in anything I don't want anymore (to either giveaway or sell).
    4. Put a wash on.
    5. Put washing on airer.
    6. Fill out rental application form.
    7. Clear out a drawer of paperwork.
    8. List 5 things on Gumtree.
    9. Finish wrapping presents.
    10. Read a chapter of my book to relax!
    Better get cracking!!

    Hi everyone

29 days to go until I move in :D:D:D:D:D.

I'm going to order my sofa tonight with my mum.

The lettings agent called yesterday to say that I had passed all my checks (including the credit check :j) and everything was set for the 9th January :T:T:T.

I am beginning to sell a few things now. Sold my TV for £30 yesterday but annoyingly the woman didn't want the stand which actually is made for the TV. Will try to Freecycle it, if not it will have to go to the tip.

Washing line is going on Tuesday and my sideboard on Sunday. Going to have a massive sorting weekend as I am getting a bit worried about lack of time to pack now.

I've got nothing to do at work and feel like I could be at home sorting stuff out which is frustrating .

23 days to go!!!!!!!! (well, nearly 22!!) :j:j:j

I am still mega excited and just seem to be buzzing all the time. I have sold all of my surplus furniture now and made around £80 from it all which is great.

The decluttering is going well and I have given away a lot of stuff on Freecycle that I didn't want to take with me. I think my generosity is going to be repaid with a big competition win (or so I hope anyway ;)).

I ordered my new sofa and my mum paid for it outright and said I could pay her back as and when. I have also got a few more house bits including a whole new set of towels for just over £30 from M&S. They were 50% off.

I have decided that when I have moved, I am going to go back on a DMP with CCCS. Running your own is ok but I preferred it when I just had 1 payment coming out of my account. The companies seem to respond better to CCCS too, some of them requested that I went back to CCCS. This means that I will just pay my DMP and when I am out of debt, I am out of debt.

I am going to quit mystery shopping and all other little bits and just concentrate on competitions and AQA (or 63336 now). If I want anything over my budget then I will have to earn it from AQA from now on, or from competition wins (if I get any).

I finally got my Barclaycard statement through today that said £0 on it!! That is a keeper.

    Evening all

Woohoo!! It's nearly Christmas :xmastree:- I still have 2 days at work though. Well, 1.5 as we are planning to sneak off early on Thursday ;)

On the flat front, I went to see the outside of it the other day. The scaffolding has been removed and it looks like the bottom flat has curtains and light fittings so they are all finished. The entrance looks great so imagine what the inside looks like!! I even have a little storage shed (meant for a bike but mine will be used for storage!). 18 days to go before I move in. I just can't wait.

I have also been in touch with CCCS and am starting a new DMP with them. They have said that it will take around 4 years to pay off but I have signed up to the Olympic challenge so need to be debt free by 2012. Going to try and make some F&Fs so it will speed things up a bit.

Had my flu and swine flu jabs today. She put them both in the same arm so my arm is now massive!! I look like Bionic Woman!! I know that sleep will be hard to get tonight so going to try to get some now.

    Night everyone
