........they have responded to the thread with shallow answers.

....that's because we are all mentalists really. For a good presis of everything covered on the board, I would read Cleavers Bingo thread. Pretty much sums it up and will save time.

I miss pickled too. She was so outrageously rude to people.

One had this image of a slightly tipsy old bird, sitting in her drawing room in her Purley mini-mansion, banging away on an old Pentium 2......

For all we know, she was a he, and it may have been a bed-sit in Bolton.

basically what i see is you get the same old poster's posting the same about house crashes this and that, and its their belief its really going to happen and that they think because of the situation they are going to gain from it.

Likewise its with hamish's post's they are all about the market picking up, obviously he must be relying on it for some reason, likewise the people who post about house prices going to fall all the time must have to benefit by this happening, otherwise why would you post everything that is published about house prices crashing and house prices rising?

To be honest i find it very boring thats why i like to know what personal gain posters have by the post's of house crash or gain will effect them.

If its a secret then fair enough, but if you have so much of a strong opinion of house price crashes and raises, why not say what sitiuation you are currently in??

    Are you all embarressed?

Someone spouting about house prices falling/rising is very boring, but when you get someone posting it all the time you begin to feel its not really a opinion its what they want to happen, and they seem to think the more they post about it the more chance it is going to happen.

I see it were i work they have a policy of last in first out, the people who have not been there very long say it shouldnt be done like that and it should be done on skills, however people who have been there years think it should be done on service.

We are a very selfish population, ive read post's about people gazumping, gazundering and most of the post's from people who continuously post about house price falls , dont actually own a house and are hoping for them to fall enough for them to be able to buy one, i dont blame them for this, but these post's now just smell of despearation.

Hasnt anyone actually got any new material???

I am now firmly convinced that you didn't actually bother to read my post...I answered all that in my post!

I'm a bear by nature but have no vested interest in the market falling, rising, staying the same or doing cartwheels whilst eating a jaffa cake...none whatsoever.

And I've said what my situation is! I rent (social housing), I used to own once upon a time, I have no wish to own unless I win the lottery (and to be honest, I still wouldn't give a hoot what price they were if that were the case), my parents own which I stand to inherit a 3rd share in but I don't actually count it as my due..the rest is in my sig. :D

So no personal gain to be had from my opinion...it is just that, an opinion. To be honest, although I think prices are not at a sustainable level, I do feel real sympathy to those caught up in the negative equity trap and worse case scenario, reposession. I've been there in the last recession and it's not a bed of roses.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

My opinion does benefit me, in that I have an opinion and quite like having one.

Very hard to do - men have no idea.

aka litigious heels for their injury inducing capacities.

i'm really good at walking in heels but i increasingly think why bother?

i do know some blokes who are good in heels too......

i'm not actually interested in house prices. i first came on mse because i was working on a programme about people with lots of debt. i've used it for tips about saving money but really only got interested in the forum to discuss wider topics. and now sometimes i'll hang around just to chew the fat. the opportunity to hear points of view from strangers is sort of appealing.

if this forum really did only discuss house prices i wonder how many posters it would lose?

I come on here to have a laugh at those who think it has only taken a year or so to sort out the housing problem. A housing problem which was based on liar loans, 125% mortgages and banks loosing the plot. Afterall for FTB on an average wage houses are still way overpriced.

I usually spend my time in the hpc forum reading sensible posts. :D

2010 should be an interesting year

Ok, think I know what you're asking here. I post my opinions to have them challenged. I'm happy to admit I'm wrong if shown a convincing argument.

I post articles I liked for two reasons. For people's opinions, and so that everyone else on the board has access to the info. Other people post articles that are useful to me, so I like to give back.
To be honest i find it very boring thats why i like to know what personal gain posters have by the post's of house crash or gain will effect them.

I've said it before but I'll say it again. I would *lurrrrrrve* a massive house crash. Preferably in Australia, though UK may be fine too. I've been saving a deposit for the past 5 years and the cheaper I can get a house the better. But I'm not going to try and spout propaganda to drive the market down.
We are a very selfish population, ive read post's about people gazumping, gazundering and most of the post's from people who continuously post about house price falls , dont actually own a house and are hoping for them to fall enough for them to be able to buy one, i dont blame them for this, but these post's now just smell of despearation.

    -- Newsflash --
    "Some people are selfish"

I'm against the idea of gazumping and gazundering, but for them as a strategy. Just like I'm against the idea of tax minimising strategies but will happily use them myself.

I think this is a problem with the UK system, it doesn't happen so much in Aus as:
    1) Everyone sources their mortgage prior to making offers
    2) No chains
    3) You have to pay a deposit when you sign the contracts

In Aus gazumping can happen, but I've not heard of gazundering.

Oh and there's new info/material out there every day, although some people will stick to their views come what may. Remember, this forum is about the economy as well as house prices.
  • i come on here to tell people they are wrong - unless they happen to agree with me, then they are of course, correct.
