Before the in laws to be offered to pay for the honeymoon we were planning on getting a teletext last min honeymoon and see whatever pennies we've got in the bank and how far it would get us! (Either that or save up tokens from the sun newspaper, the most quality of fish and chip paper )I run an event management company, I put on events, I go to events, if I don't know anything about events - its not worth knowing!:j:j:jNegotiate, Negotiate, and Negotiate again.:j:j:j0

we've asked for money towards a honeymoon for our gift but after the wedding we'll be going up to Scotland for a couple of days which to me sounds totally fab and I'm really looking forward to it. The best thing will be just to spend afew days away from the rest of the world with the man I love (I may accidentally need to drop his iphone in a loch!:rotfl:). If we get enough money as a gift we'll look at having more of a travel adventure next summer but we'll be taking my DS. We'll also be trying for a baby quite soon so if we're lucky the far-flung honeymoon will never happen :rotfl::DUpdating soon...0

Dont think its uncommon these days, I went to a wedding a month ago, and the couple just went for a long weekend on the south coast somewhere. Nothing extravagent and they are now saving for the official honeymoon next year.
I am having a honeymoon, and its costing twice what the wedding is, but that's what we wanted and tailored the wedding budget so we could have the honeymoon budget we want and the way we see it the wedding is mainly for friends and family and the honeymoon is for us.0 -
If its any help, we're not having a honeymoon, but spending our wedding night in our fave hotel in Newcastle. We go there every year, just for a weekend, and stay in a posh suite so we have lots of fond memories already. We may (like you BIG may) go away for a week in October 2010 if finances permit, but its not looking good at present!

Don't think it's sad. We didn't even really think about it and really aren't that bothered! 15 of us are staying in lovely cabins at the venue from the Friday to the Monday (Ceremony etc on Sat), then because our close friends from Irealand are bringing their Camper van over and making it part of their holiday, we're thinking of hiring a camper and going touring with them for the week! We have talked about going away later on next year, but it will depend on money as we're just finishing doing up my old house to sell and will be looking to buy a new house - not sure that we'll be able to afford a big holiday too! My view is; it's nice but not essential."Normal is not something to aspire to - it is something to get away from" - Jodie Foster0

We had a week in a nice cottage at Stratford Upon Avon and then a week off after that to do days out and chill at home. I didn't want the hassle of getting a passport and flying off after the wedding, nor the cost of a big holiday. We'll do that eventually but our way, driving to the cottage the day after was less stressful (despite going home to pack and drop the suits back at the hire shop!)0

hi , im planning a honeymoon into our bugdet , ive got 2 yrs to save so fingers crossed , allowing 5,000 for the wedding and 2,000 for a honeymoon , having said that , im very arty and will end up doing my own cake , flowers , venue decorating , invites and probably even my dress too , anything i can save on i will , by then we will never have had a holiday together so think we need one , but having said that , i dont think you have to go somewhere , fancy , sunny , abroad or expensive to have a honeymoon ,
if your staying at home , try getting someone to take the kids for a few days , some candals , some wine , some massage oil, few strawberries and chocies , and a nice racey basque , take bubble baths together , massage each other , etc doesnt cost much but will give you a feeling of getting a break and doing something special , just do all your favourite coupley things together , if you can get away to a small hotel or b n b or similar to do the same even better , even putting very little aside every week should cover a small break , a honeymoon is a state of mind not a place , and even a simple stay at home one can mean alot witha little bit of foreplanning and imagination ,
please dont feel like your loosing out0 -
We are not having a 'honeymoon' as such. We are going away for a short break in the west country in a cottage to just unwind. We are booking through Helpfulholidays.co.uk very very reasonable prices
:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:0 -
We are not having a 'honeymoon' either. We hope to be able to go away for a romantic break next spring,so about 5 months after the wedding, just for a long weekend somewhere nearby but scenic.Loch Lomond probably."Reaching out to touch the stars dont forget the flowers at your feet".0
