I called Abbey today and they told me that they will remove ALL credit searches within 48 hours as my application was a guaranteed acceptance!
Believe it when i see it! I'll be checking my CreditExpert account in 2 days!0 -
Abbey just sent me a bottle of champagne and mints to apologise!!!
Goes to show its worth writing in to complain! ;-)0 -

There is no mention of the "zero" credit card and they invite me to apply for a "Santander Credit Card", which I'm sure has no real benefits so I think I'll just forget about the whole thing.
It's just another example of the shoddy customer service I've received from Abbey. They are clearly a bunch of liars.
UPDATE: this morning I have received my PINfor a card they've told me I'm not going to get because my application form was incomplete. No indication yet of it being a "zero" card and no letter saying what my credit limit will be. They like to keep their customers guessing, don't they?!

I finally got my rejection letter for the Zero card from my 12th aug application. Usual crap about credit scores, check Experian and you can appeal within 30 days but we won't tell you why you were rejected in order to work your appeal around that.
Been rejected for everything now in the last year. No idea why (total of 3 searches and 1 identify check on my credit reports)
Earn around £20k
Been at my present address for 22 years
On the electoral roll
Same employer for 6 years nearly
4 credit cards with around 60% of credit being used (though reducing 2 at present fairly rapidly)
Got a car loan through Toyota with Santander that I've been paying for 2 years now with zero missed or late payments (1 year to go)
Got a B&B savings account that is about to be part of Santander - next to nothing in that though as last time I used it, someone stole my book and cleared the account.
All zeroes on all my credit reports (bar two 1s - 1 for a card I closed 6 months ago and 1 for an O2 account that I closed nearly 2 years ago after they wrote a threatening letter to me before they issued the bill for something like £4-8 for that month)
Beats me what exactly they're after. Did ask to balance transfer around £1400 of a £2k limit MBNA card (less of a balance now) which would have reduced my outgoings even more.0 -
So I got my zero card in the end. Only a £500 credit limit.
It's very weird how the poster above gets turned down when I, with no provable income, get plenty of credit including a £2.5k card with virgin who allowed me a 0% fee and 0% interest cash transfer to my bank! What credit crunch?0 -
Also, I'm sure the original offer was you could balance transfers to this ZERO card for 0% interest and with no fee. Now there is a 3% fee0

george, they told me in branch that there was a zero fee for transferring, I did the transfer and I got charged - this was about 3-4 weeks ago. The charge is on this months statement. They never told me on the phone there was a charge when I called also. I think I am going to call and question it.
Looking though the statement it says on the back there is a 3% fee for balance transfers. Am really annoyed as I could have 'paid' my Capital One balance with the card and not been charged. I've every intention of paying it ASAP and made the full payment on 21st. Gone into my abbey bank account and there is no record of the payment, the money has not been 'reserved', no record of the transaction and no record of the new payment having even been set up!! I know for a fact I did it. I wonder if they have something going on to refuse payments so they can then charge you late payment fees. I would never have known if I did not check tonight.
I will not be using it again in a hurry that is for sure!!0 -
Apologies if this has already been done, I'm new to this. I received the
Santander Zero Credit Card Guaranteed in with one of my Alliance & Leicester statements. Filled in the application form and sent it off. I haven't heard anything back and as the deal was only valid until today I would like to know what's happening. I have tried phoning Santander who pass me back to A & L who say it's nothing to do with them, the whole thing seems a bit of a shambles to me.
My question is, has anybody got a phone number for anybody either at Santander or A & L who can tell me what's going on.
Thanks
Your story is exactly the same as mine upto today when I rang to check how the application was going. Apparently there was a mistake on the application so I got transferred to the 'apply by phone' option. I just spent 10 mins going through the details and they are doing a credit check, submitting my application and said I will receive the card and full details within a week - if its successful. The number to call is 0845 603 9820.0 -

That's very annoying. When I rang up the person did tell me there would be a 3% transfer charge. I will keep a close eye on the timing of payment after what you said.
In a general sense I wonder whether they prefer high balance transfers over smaller ones. Anyone know.0
