A curious bunch this Santander outfit! I applied early in September for the Zero credit card. It seemed ideal for using during my holiday in Brazil on October 12. Nothing ever received. Phoned them a couple of times and was told my application had been accepted but they were experiencing 'high demand'. Those two words are becoming notorious for lousy customer service. 'High demand' as an excuse for delays on the telephone etc. My theory is that 'cos I had no balance to transfer to their card and I stipulated that I wanted to pay transactions off in full each month by direct debit my 'high demand' was turned into 'low priority'. Chuckle, watch out for the next raft of excuses from institutions i.e 'due to the postal strikes we apologise for the delay etc. etc.'

my husband applied for a card from santander when they were GE money back in 2007, and after doing some supermarket and childrens toyshop transactions for christmas and weekly shopping, as he left his debit card at home, they sent out a dispute form, that we never requested, and have caused us trouble ever since, we been credited the amount we paid our bills off with, but now we have to return all the kids christmas and birthday presents for ages 1,4 and 6years, no thanks to santander. and suddenly have to pay back the same amount on a loan that was outstanding 3months ago, having already paid it off once, santander have well and truly made our familys lifes a misery. good luck everyone they not worth the hassle.Legal Fees £1325.00

Maybe someone can help as i've never had this issue before.
Just chased my application and was told:"Very sorry but your application was declined. But the underwriters are waiting for you to appeal."
Do people normally get this message after being declined? To appeal do I just outline why I think I should get a card?
Is it likely to be successful?
Thanks0 -
My theory is that, because I had no balance to transfer to their card and I stipulated that I wanted to pay transactions off in full each month by direct debit, my 'high demand' was turned into 'low priority'.
From feedback here, those of us who applied in branch were okay, but online and postal applications are still subject to long delays apparently :rolleyes:People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -

After 14 phone calls and getting a completely different story each time from the person i spoke to - ranging from your application has been declined, your application is with the underwriters, your application has been abandoned, your application is still being processed etc etc and having 3 credit searches done on my file all by Santander Cards!
Matday,
I also had three identical searches appear on my credit file. I wrote to Experian and they're in the process of getting two of the three deleted.

I was going to call Abbey today to get these extra searches removed, thought it was best to call them as they would have made them?
If not i'll write to Experian too.
Good to hear i'm not the only one, but obviously this shouldn't happen! :-)0 -
Having a Abbey mortgage, we were offered a £3k limit on our Zero. we were also given only £500 back in June.
Application took forever. Only took it out for June holiday.
Now having a nightmare as have been charged interest inside the 6 month period-have phoned the number on the statement and been told it was visa debit. He gave me another number. Was MBNA credit card. They transferred to the right number-who could do nothing as "it had to be resolved in branch" Went in branch "has to be solved over the phone"
Ridiculous company. Am closing the credit card, transferring my business account away and when my mortgage ends with them wll go with another company.
Have never had so much hassle in my life-the Zero offer was good, but certainly not worth all this.
Good luck to those of you starting on the quest-you're going to need it.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?
