And I thought I was the only person who loved this:rotfl:. I started getting cravings for it when pregnant with my last, that and fish dishes for some reason.

Wow, I'd love some prices like that for my project Cheerfulness :T

SFT, I think stockpiling the stockpile money is a great idea, something I have planned for when we get back :T And as for the wine, it's a no brainer. Whether you gift it or drink it though... ;)

Well, I'm getting rather impatient to get on with my interview! :D I'll no doubt kak myself once I know when it is but I would really like to get it over with, so I know one way or the other (I hope it's the 'come join our school' way :D).

I'm also impatient to have my lovely man home, and excited about telling him all the wedding developments since he went away several eons ago. Just been looking through old photos of us (for a reason ;)) and you know what, we're a really happy couple. Considering what we've been through that's pretty special :smileyhea

When is the interview? I wish you all the luck in the world for that! I'm sure they'll snap you up!
How long before Mr Bails returns? Looking through old photos is such a positive experience. Always lifts my mood-especially the travel ones!
Thanks for the advice about the wine. Mr SFT will pop in tomorrow.

SM-I agree, it sounds like you've had a blissful weekend. Has your mum been up their before? What did she make of it?
The neighbours chickens are barely laying at the mo (got lots of young Banthams (sp)) but we did get half a dozen from another neighbour down the road.
Decided to get Tuna for Mr T too. Thinking about it I stockpilled a few years ago on the Grocery Challenge and you're right, you can make great savings. Will be spending some of the money saved this month-that I seem to have over.

Cheerfulness-Sounds like a great raid at Mr T! Our nearest Morris*ns is much further than Mr T and S*insburys-shame as the £40 per week spend for £25 voucher sounds great.

Finding lots of mackerel recipes but they seem to be for smoked mackerel and ours isn't. Help!!

Really proud of Mr SFT today. Whilst I was having a lie-in he dug another square veggie plot (has 3 now going down the side of our agricultural land). He plans to grow raspberries, potatoes and parsnips. Also thinking about runner beans, leeks and cauliflowers. He wasn't all alone though as he saw a green woodpecker and a friendly robin nearby.

  • Well, we now have a lodger! She seems very nice, so I'm sure we'll get along fine especially as it's only for a month. Hopefully her rent money won't have to go on fixing my car, as it seems that the head gasket has given up, it's damaged the head (we have a spare), but if the block is damaged there will be major engine work needed. H2B is outside fixing it, as I'm supposed to be using the car for a work trip tomorrow. Very sweet of him - it was too cold for me to do anything!

SFT, Grandma, I just skimmed the last few posts and thought you were talking about bananas on toast. I was thinking that bananas and mustard didn't sound like a good combination... Quite a relief when I found the mackerel comment!!!!

Yes they will be fine. I used to do this years ago but can not remember the recipe for the sauce. You should be able to find one online.

Well its taken me over an hour to catch up with the goings on on here while I have been at BFs as when I posted there, I hadn't had time to read.

I was hurt when I saw the comment about the family mobile phones, but was glad that I was defended in my abscence.
Having moved home over 19 times, mobile phones are necessary. Land linesare not always possible. Twins have learning difficulties and are just learning to live independantly, and need contact. It costs me £7 a month for all of us to stay intouch. Each one of them can contact the other even when they do not have credit on their phones. For 5 people to stay intouch, who are constantly on the move in temporary accommodation, I feel we need working phones.
I could have bought secondhand on Ebay and lined someone elses pockets rather then the mobile phone company. I could be putting my health at risk, but as my health is bad anyway, I would rather have my family in contact. It is peace of mind. As I have a phone, it doesnot mean that I am using it all the time.

Re photocopying books. I would rather have the books, and know that I can flick through them and makesomething I fancy at the time. But I know where the thought came from and I am grateful.
I am not an actual member of this challenge. Just someone learning to live life differently after bein ill and loosing my job.
Living on 1/4 of what I used to when I was working. (And I did work all my life until this year- even when I had the children and thier dad deserted me after 13 years of marriage!). I feel very defensive, I am sorry. Life has been a long and hard struggle with two mentally challenged children, who are now young adults who want to live their own life, and I am trying to let them. Even though thier mistakes are scary, and have caused me to change my lifestyle, work life, and ruined my own health.
Sorry I will get off my high horse now.
I appreciate all the help and information I get from this thread. Infact this site. This is the first time I have received what felt like negative feedback.
So I suppose in several thousand posts thats not so bad.

I wish everyone the best with all thier endevours. And I will continue to save where I can, and spend as little as possible on frivolities as does everyone here.
When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.

Mooloo - those of us who regularly participate in the thread (and I'm sure many of those who just read) totally understand WHY you have a mobile phone, and it would be one of the last 'luxuries' to go in my household too...... even without my having all the reasons you have.

My car has become very much a 'luxury', though DD has got herself into a major flap when I mentioned it could well have to go next year. These days it's only used twice a week for collecting my GDs in the morning (term-time only and could be done on foot, or by bus when the weather is bad), for taking stuff to the tip (have to have access to a private vehicle for that) which is currently once every 6-8 weeks as DD and I dejunk our homes, for when I babysit for DD (could get there by foot/bus/taxi, and either get a taxi home or stay over and get back by foot/bus the next day), and my crafting groups (normally once a month, sometimes twice, and sometimes - due to other commitments - not at all) which I couldn't get to at all with a car (not on viable public transport routes/links, and much too far out for a taxi). One reason for not being too hasty at getting rid of this is that, after a couple of years without insurance, I'd soon be back to a zero NCD - which would make the cost of ever getting a car again totally prohibitive

Apologies if this is in the wrong place but thinking about sending some Christmas cards I found some stamps from last year or before. They do not have the price on but that years picture and 2nd.
If I use them this year will they get there or will the recipiant be charged extra postage.

Should I just get some extra stamps to make up the difference.

    Love this thread.
