Right, must go and do something. According to Buddhism (I am not a Buddhist just immersed in the culture currently) any good actions today are multiplied one hundred million times (the same with any bad actions ) so let's see how much good we can spread today :D
 Must be good, must be good, must be good... :rotfl: Pooooo... does that mean the consequences of chomping hm cake when I need to loose weight is going to be 1,000,000 fold too??   :rotfl:

Mooloo - Please don't feel you have to justify yourself to anyone. That poster came across as quite judgemental (to me anyway). Maybe it wasn't meant like that... I don't know. Only you can decide what to spent your money on, and what is important or not to you. The only person you need to justify it to is yourself.

Personally my mobile is definitely in my budget to stay - I like the security of having it available even if I don't spent much on it. Emergencies DO happen and I'd like to be contactable if they do. I feel safer having it if I'm out and about too. I would give a lot of other things up first rather than be without it. Actually with my mobile if I top up at least £10 every 3 months (£10/3 months is about what I use anyway :D) I get £5/month off my broadband costs so it actually saves me money! :T

I don't know much about cars but 2nd cars are definitely a necessity for some. I don't drive (never learnt :o)... but I am lucky I live in a centralish city location with very good transport links so I mostly don't NEED to drive. I can get to work and wherever else I need to by public transport for £42/month. I don't think anyone should be slated for making decisions that suit them within whatever budget they have. We are a diverse bunch on this thread and are all in this challenge (or practicing for next year ;)) for a whole range of reasons...

I guess I watched too much Animal Magic with Johnny Morris as a kiddie, cuz I 'hear' what they are thinking just by looking at the expressions on their faces :D
I used to love that programme as a kid! :D Its very true that money can't buy everything and some of the free stuff is priceless... imagination rules!

Grandma247 - I haven't had banana on toast for years... *adds bananas to shopping list* Yummy! :D

Carrot cake is one of my faves, that's an impressive spread of veggies nyk! Was reading your frugaldom blog and will need to get the tablet recipie to you. T has also asked for it, maybe I should keep it secret and sell the stuff, everyone that tries it loves it!:rotfl:

That would be me asking for the recipe :):D

Another NSD! I think that's 3 consecutive days, I've lost count.. Anyway I realise I need to actually keep track on paper of my spending, because trying to keep track in my head and then checking receipts isn't enough for me. I need to see it in black and white. It's only the 9th of the month and I'm getting a bit lost already.

I've been working today and just arrived home tired and hungry. I rang the Halifax today and they wouldn't take a payment over the phone because I dont bank with them  . And I forgot to ask about making more than the minimum payment,...So tomorrow will be busy, I need to go to W town to pay my cc bill, and do a small grocery shop at Mr S there too. When I get home I want to make soup from the lovely veg I got at the farm shop last week. In addition to my cc payment I don't want to spend more than £20 tomorrow.

Quick round up for the night - I got 9 portions of soup and 3 portions of curry from my garden forage. VERY pleased with this. Didn't get around to making carrot cake so we had a slice of the hm sultana & cinnamon loaf with bramble jelly instead. :) Frugaler and frugaler!

Very cold again tonight, so blanket's on for early night to watch comedy film on TV. :)
I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

You NEVER cease to amaze me! :T:T:T the amount you seem to get out of seemingly very little is so impressive. :)

Another NSD for me here, and I've got quite a lot of work done this evening which is good. I'm aiming for an early night tonight though, as I'm so tired.

Had a lovely weekend with the BF. Got to meet some more of his friends at this wedding do, and just had a good time. Its so nice to be sociable for a change! :rotfl: I'm not normally as I have too much to do, but it was so nice to have a break from it all, and really just relax.

Handed in another assignment today. I think that having essays to do as well as all the stuff to do with school is really stressful, but I'm trying to do them bit by bit, and have them done about a week before the deadline, just so I'm not in a mad panic at the end of it. This is all very well, but I can see its just more time I don't seem to have. Got another 3,000 word one due in on the 30th Nov, which means a lot of reading to fit in around everything else. Can't think too much about it though otherwise I start to panic!

Hope everyone is having a good evening x x

Had a looooong day today, but first shift down at work :T

I was up at 6am, out with dog just after 6:30 (after having a brew and throwing on some clothes destined for the washing pile), home at 7:30, another brew and some toast, shower and hairwash at 8:15am, in clothes for school just after 8:30am and at school for voluntary stint at 8:45am.

Supposed to stay at school until 11:30, but I bailed out at 11:10. Came home, let dogs out (and in), made a brew, ironed work uniform, had a quick lunch, changed into uniform, and headed out about 12:15pm. Wasn't due at work until 1pm (and it's only a 10 minute walk), but had a couple of stops to make en-route and wanted to be there early for my first day.....

Went to a local discount store and got myself a cheap watch (had realised I don't own one, and always use my phone - but we're not allowed mobiles on the shop floor!), then went and collected a prescription. Then as I arrived at the supermarket around 12:35 I realised I'd forgotten the baseball cap that makes up part of my uniform - so a mad dash home, collect my cap, dash back to supermarket.... and reported to HR at 12:55, so at least I was still earlier than I had to be ;)

It was a bad day to start though..... the only member of staff who was there to show me the ropes finished at 2pm, so I had all on an hours training before being left totally alone until the lady who was due to start at 5pm arrived!! She actually came on duty 5 mins early, so showed me where the rubbish has to be taken - and then I went and clocked off. Luckily there was enough to do with what I'd been shown "how", that it was only my last half hour I really struggled to keep busy.

My back knows I've been on my feet all day (first twinges in months, but only minor), so have taken some co-codamol with my tea - and will take another lot when I get up in the morning and then take some to work with me. Am about to sign off and turn in, as I have to be up just after 5am tomorrow for a 7am start :o Should get more training tomorrow though, as I'm told the department manager will be in (he was on leave today). I should be home by 4:15pm as I'm due off shift at 4pm, but suspect I'll be ready for a really early night after tea :rolleyes2: (Note to self : remember to get the chille out of the freezer in the morning before heading out)

CW - I am on a 6am start tomorrow, so know how you feel (after finishing at 8pm tonight :rolleyes). You sound like you enjoyed your first day though, am pleased!

Right see if I remember (and before anyone laughs it is only a short list but I'm having a bad memory day)

HH62 If you pay your credit card of in full always you can set up a DD to do this - apologies if I have the wrong end of the stick.

CW Thanks for the advice about last years stamps I've got some fairly old ones that I've been too scared to use (guess what's going on this year's Xmas cards)

Nyk  to snow. Its about 5C here and we're all complaining!

Bails Thanks for the Buddhism fact - hoping I've done something good today - its been a long day and see earlier memory comment :rotfl:
