Welcome Ansoff! Just join in for a practice run like lots of people do until you feel more comfortable with the idea - it took me a while to get my head round the idea it was actually possible! Why not pick one area to start with and see how you go with that? Great to have you with us!

As long as it's in your favour Taka ;) I was annoyed a while back because I was out by 5 rupees (about 3p) :rotfl:

And to prove I have exteme frugalitis, last night I was offering advice to some traveller in my dream who was completely skint and starving by telling him to get some Heinz beans from Mr T! :rotfl::rotfl: There is no hope :D

    Hi Everyone!
I've only just got up. I'm sure the stress of last week finally caught up with me.

Going to have a pottering day at home. Plan for the day is
    • Visit Mr T. We have £27 left for rest of month. We have been using money off coupons from Mr S over the last few weeks. Thanks Grandma for your tip about the baked beans. We bought a whole year's worth of Br*nston Beans last year and saved about £30. Got about 12 tins left. Stockpiling on non-perishables is a great form of money saving. Mr T has Linda M*Cartney sausages for only £1 at the moment so may buy a few packs-freezer goods are tricky as it all depends on space. Next month we have a £20 M and S voucher that we plan to use for food as well as quite alot left over in the freezer. Going to put any remaining money in Valerie my savings hen.
    • Ironing-being much more ruthless now. Things like pyjamas and bedding that no-one will see do not get ironed. I then divide the rest of the pile into difficult and not difficult and get the horrors ironed first.-It's finally done!!!!!!!
    • Tidying up-I'm a big fan of the 10 piece pick up on the fly lady thread as tidying up is soooo boring.
    • Compile a report timetable.
    • Finish sorting finances.-Sorted and I have money left over..too much...mmm..I'm sure I've missed something there.
    • Finish my reading book and continue reading my next one. Really trying to read one a month.
    • Go for a local walk with Mr SFT.
Will keep you informed of my progress.

Does anyone know the price of a NHS Dental check up. Please.

    Hello :)

SFT try this page for keeping up to date with costs http://www.whatprice.co.uk/dentist/nhs-private-prices.html It's currently reading £16.20 for basic check up. :)

Welcome Ansoff! Heading to page 1 to add your name already :D

Got a washing out on the line in today's rare sunshine but it was frosty this morning when I went to let out the hens & ducks. Not getting many eggs at the moment but it's enough to keep us going. It just means I can't trade eggs via LETS.

Last night I made a huge pot of split pea soup and added a small can of cream to give it a luxury edge. Skint Lynne, that took care of all the homegrown peapods and freed up space in the freezer. Thanks to SM, I have filled the space with discounted A$da margarine. :)

Lands' End website has a £15 off voucher available on a £45 spend at the moment - it says to tell all my friends, so PM me if you can't find the code elsewhere. Don't forget there's also cashback available (I opted for 10% via T0pca$hback), so make the most of it if you are in need of footwear or clothing. I've ordered a goosedown gilet, a wax-type jacket and a pair of trainers, total should come to £36.05 including P&P when cashback clears! Shouldn't really be writing it her in case sis reads, as one of the items is for her. :D

Still having trouble with the breadmaker, so the spindle got hit with a hammer this morning to free it up! I now have an experimental loaf in to see if I can work out how best to make the most of the gluten free flour. All suggestions welcome. :)

Anyone else ordered from Appr0ved F00ds recently? I'm tempted to place another order and think it's great that you can now see on site what's in date, short dated or past sell by! Thanks for that, Dan. :T (I was also fortunate enough to succeed with the latest discount code there, too. :T I'm tempted to place another order for store of in date items for adding to this year's food hampers, so am keeping an eye on the site for bargains. We don't have anywhere remotely close to us that sells these kinds of bargains.
I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

    Hello
Had a NSD yesterday and today will be the same which is great. :j

I have, however, just realised I forgot to pay one of my credit cards this month and it's due on Tuesday. It's too late to do an online payment  and I'm working all day Monday so on Tuesday I'll have to go into the branch to make a payment. If I pay by cash at the branch it gets paid into my cc account immediately so avoiding late payment fees. The only problem is that the only branch anywhere near me is in a town 10 miles away and this place has great shops so I will be sorely tempted when I'm there  . I actually avoid this little town (W Town) at all costs because of the wonderful shops there....And it'll cost me £4 train fare to get there too or petrol and parking...Bit annoyed with myself for forgetting to pay it. I don't do it by DD because I pay off more than the minimum depending on how much I've got spare. My other cards are on 0% so I only pay the minimum on those and its done by DD.

Just looking at my diary for the week ahead it shouldn't be a spendy week really, as long as I can resist the temptations in W Town on Tuesday. I may as well do my grocery shopping at the Mr S there too. I don't need much but must make a meal plan and a shopping list and stick to it. I think my spending limit will be £20 as I've only got £49 left for the rest of the month.

I used to have a DD set up for the minimum (so I never forgot), but then pay off extra manually (normally on-line).

Can you phone them and pay by debit card?
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.
