CW-thanks for that I didn't know that was possible. That would work out great actually and I'll start it next month.
whitewing - last time I did this was about 18 months ago and they said it wouldn't process in time because it takes at least 2 business days. But I'll give them a ring and check to see if that's still the case, thanks.0 -

One always took the minimum by DD, regardless of what I'd already paid in the meantime. So if minimum was £100 and I manually paid £150 which had cleared before 'due date', they still took the £100.
The other only took the DD if I hadn't already paid the minimum. So if I'd paid £150 when the minimum was £100 and it had cleared before 'due' date, they didn't take the DD as well....
Meant I always had to remember which was which :rolleyes2Cheryl0 -
Just check how they operate this...... I had two cards that did different things !!!

oh now my head's in a spin :rotfl:
I wonder then, if I let the DD get paid (it's usually the 10th of the month) and then within a couple of days go into the branch with whatever cash I've got left for the month to pay a bit more off...then I assume they'll take the DD the following month as normal? or maybe not...
Thanks for the heads up, I suppose all I can do is a bit of trial and error and see what works.0 -
Hi Everyone!
Pottering Plan of the day-my progress so far- Local walk-Went a bit wrong since we've run out of time and the sun is setting as I speak. Oh well that's what happens when you're a lazy hound.
- Visit Mr T. -This went well. Got everything we needed for £7.80 so we still have £19.20 for the month. Got LM veggie sausages for Dec and Jan. Got enough B*sto Veggie Gravy for next year (2 for £1.20 so saving of £5.17-sad as it might seem, I think I will put my stock piling savings to one side to see how much I can mount up. Also looking at getting tuna for the year as that's £3 for 4 tins at mo-that could be a saving of £28.68-CW I know you'll appreciate my thinking even if everyone else thinks I'm bonkers). We also got a reduced ploughman's s/w for Mr SFT's lunch tomorrow at 15p, Salami Milano slices for freezer (pizza topping) at 19p and best of all 2 reduced mackerel fillets for 49p-now we just need suggestions for dinners for them.
- Also got 175 points coupon for J*cobs creek reserve wine-it costs £8.89 but would get £7.00 (as x 4 of points voucher) towards YHA visit with parents next year. Wine would then cost only £1.89 and could give it as part of Christmas present. What do you think?
- Ironing-it took hours but now its done!
- Tidying up-Still to do
- Compiled my report timetable.
- Finished sorting finances.-Sorted and I have money left over..too much...mmm..I'm sure I've missed something there.
- Finish my reading book and continue reading my next one. -Still to do

But I paid the extra just as soon as I knew I could spare the cash, as this also reduced the interest on the next statement (albeit only by a few pennies ; ) )
Your card operator should be able to tell you which way they operate when you contact them to set up the DD.Cheryl0 -
Good afternoon frunchkins:D
Had a good weekend oop north, mum came with me whilst OH had to work. We were kept busy with furniture moving after the carpet/flooring fitters had been, putting a shelving unit together, and installing a roller blind in the bathroom. The dry weather also meant we could get out in the garden yesterday afternoon and plant lots of daffodil bulbs which have been waiting for weeks to be put inand this afternoon has been spent mostly outdoors again cleaning out the chicken pen, and sitting on the garden chairs, well wrapped up, drinking coffee and doing a bit of chicken watching:D.
In frugal news the fire has mostly been running this weekend on blocks of timber cut from thick planks which were in mum's garage.Meals have been batch cooked food from the freezer, entertainment has been courtesy of chickens and dvd stash, and telephone calls have been on free minutes:D
There was also some LETS trading for xmas giftstwo eggs from the chickens:j:j, a woodpecker, pheasant, wren and lots of other birds to watch in the garden, and time for lots of cuppas with frugal neighbour:D
Hope everyone else has had a good weekend
sft - I work on bulk buying stuff when it's on good prices, saves a fortune over the year.:)0 -
SFT - I'm not sure if you have a particular tuna that you prefer but if you have a Morrison near you they are selling their tuna steaks on BOGOF for £1.09, so that would be 6 tins for £3.27.
Love you stockpiling plans.
Would anyone know if dahl yellow mung beans can be used in the same way as red lentils? The cooking instructions seem similar but I don't know about the taste.
I've just come back from MrT and they were selling 2kg bags for 20p so DH said to get 3.
They also had packs of linseeds as well for 20p a pack so I got 6 of those as I use them in my HM bread and love them sprinkled on banana mashed on toast with cinnamon. Yum!
Not sure if this is just my MrT or nationwide but loads of things in a special corner with big white Clearance labels on now reduced again from 20p upwards on them. (Origiinal clearance prices were hardly cheaper, I thought).AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250

Cheerfulness the yellow mung beans taste quite like split yellow peas and can be used in soupy things when you would have used the lentils. There are also some asian puddings made using these beans but I haven't made any of those. Great bargains, probably a one off in your store.:T0

Thanks for that SM and I'm really pleased as I love split pea soup so I'll try some in that tomorrow. Red lentil prices seem to have leapt up so this should tide us over nicely.
