your post made me cry, its incredible how kind and caring people on this thread are, especially after a tough day when you so need a hug.
got a feeling tonight going to be horrendous, daniel is in a foul mood for whatever reason, and after making threats has gone off, he scares me now he's so big and so strong
thanks again

shaz xxxenjoy life, we only get one chance at it:)0 -
Oh Shaz - I don't know what to say. If you're worried about Daniel, is there a friend you can call on to keep you company for the evening? Hopefully, he'll have calmed down by the time he comes back because he'll have had time to think. It does feel strange when they are bigger than you but still children, doesn't it? Sending lots of (((hugs))) to you. Please don't forget that we are here for you.
Jacqui - I was only thinking about you yesterday. How exciting that you have a new house to think about! I have never liked moving, so I admire anyone who does. Hope it all goes well and that the black cloud goes away soon.
Chalky - welcome back to you and thanks for your kind comments about Chez Mioliere! I'm not too happy about it today because DH has made a lot of dust that is settling everywhere - I know he can't help it but it drives me mad because everything needs damping down, and it makes me cough! I've been wearing a facemask for most of the day! Will take a look at your photos after dinner!
Well, off to dish up the lamb hotpot, I think.
See you all later.

Sorry I haven't been around much the last few days  I won't drone on about why .. just the usual .. :rotfl:
I haven't been up to much but I have managed to go through lots of patterns ... and as Easter is fast approaching, I thought I’d put a list togetherof some patterns that may be useful to peeps, as I know a lot of you may not have the time to look for themI thought it would be quick n' easy to looksy here :grouphug:
That's so kind May. I often find that if I am pattern searching nothing gets done, or if I'm being productive I don't get a chance to look at patterns so thank you :A. Don't overdo it though or the finger wagging smiley comes out again.
Sorry you are having a hard time Shaz. Time to make yourself something lovely and great earlier suggestion about getting a friend over.
Good to see you back Jaqui - good luck with the move - house sounds great.
Sympathies re the dust Kathy - it all gets very wearing. But think how great it will be when your knitting retreat is up and running :rotfl:.
Hope the decorating will be finished soon Elaine. All the changes must be hard without your dear Jim to share it all with.
Take care all. Off to do some things I should be doing.0 -
Hi , I'm hoping to be a returner to knitting after 40+ years and have a question (that will no doubt have all you lovely people raising your eyebrows in despair!)
I saw some Wendy Racy Lady (I understand it used to be called Foxy Lady) in a very pretty pale beige/gold colour which I fell in love with, so bought three balls of it. I told the sa I wanted to start with a scarf so she sold me some 7mm needles, but I forgot to ask how many stitches she'd recommend.
Can anybody suggest how many I should cast on please? Tyia

Meant to say earlier that we awoke to find 2 of the dearest little dogs sitting on our front door mat-- sitting and just looking. Well fed and clean but apparently they had been abandoned yesterday whilst we were away. Well I couldnt believe it -- how can anyone just leave 2 little doggies on a corner.
Well there is a charity for such dogs but they are overflowing so it looks like they will have to go to the vets and I am told he will put them to sleep!! I have felt sad all day. The Spansh family next door have taken charge of things but I feel so sad to think about their plight-- How can people be so irresponsible!!Try and do a good deed every day.0 -
Sorry posts crossed Sparrer -- Not sure about scarf stitches but help will be here ASAP I am sureTry and do a good deed every day.0

Oh, Chalky - how sad. I hope the next door neighbours can help to provide a happy ending to the story. Great post and photos on your blog, by the way!
Sparrer - welcome to you. I've just looked at some Wendy Racy Lady on eBay and the write-up said that, on 7mm needles, 12.5 sts over 17 rows will knit a 4" x 4" square, which works out at just over 3 sts per inch wide, so, on that basis, if you want a skinnyish scarf, cast on 12/13 stitches, and double that amount for a chunkier one, then knit to the length you want. Hope this helps and that I've explained it well enough! If you have any other questions, there is always someone here who can help.
Shaz - thinking of you and hope you have a peaceful evening.

Have a look at this free pattern ... 7mm needles, as mioliere said you can cast on less stitches if you want a narrower scarf
