Hi all, just thought it would be nice to share with you a really quick and easy pattern for a scarf which I am working on at present. I find it very rewarding to see the pattern forming (a bit like the famous ruffle scarf). The beauty of this is that you can do it in almost any yarn by adjusting the needle size and number of stitches to the thickness. I am using a rusty red colour chunky from charity shop on size 5.5 needles. I found the pattern on this site www.crazygirlyarnshop.com
and then it is the pdf of Easy Drop Stitch Scarf. It looks more complicated than it really is. All you need to do is knit, wrap yarn round needle and then drop the loops on the following rows. I found a rhythm after the first few rows.
My other work in progress is a blanket similar to on Attic 24. I have now crocheted all the first sets of 4 squares together and await more DK wool to add some borders.
Hope you are all taking it easy and maybe enjoying some sunshine in your day.0 -
Going rapidly senile...have managed to master the 2 square but really struggling with the 4 for the babette. Chalky (or anyone else who is good at crochet) could you write the insitructions in plain Elglish pleeeeease!
Hugs for peole missing - realise that we have quite a few absentees at the mo so hugs if youre lurking....Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0 -
Afternoon all:hello:
I haven’t been in for a couple of days so had a mammoth read through today....so many pages. This post looks like being a long one;)
Chalky – love the latest laphgan such nice colours, it’s amazing how many colours you find when you start blitzing the stash is’nt it??? Yes Mum’s great she can’t get about too well without her tripod, but her tongue works ok!!! and she’s definitely got all her marbles. :rotfl:
Elaine - ooo those coffee creams look yummy, you are very naughty posting that link and tempting meMIL buys me Maltesers for washing her sheets and towels, she did try to pay me but I was’nt having that no-way, so we settled on a box of Maltesers once a fortnight.
ISOM – love the colours you have chosen for the Babbett blanket
Shaz – how kind of you to rescue all that wool
PTB – you sure have been busy,it’s lovely to see all those nice empty spaces, but please be careful and don’t get overdoing it. O how lovely her first tooth
Pol – yes Mum's pal has done well has’nt she? there will be no stopping her now. I said to Mum you should have told me about the hook I could have bought one over earlier I've got loads.
Seakay - I hope your hands clear up soon. Whoever it was who said ME and fibromyalgia are psychological illness’s obviously has never had contact with people who suffer from these illness’s, and the terrible pain and debility they bring. I get so  when I hear such rubbish!!!
Salome – can’t wait to see what picture our lovely May comes up with for a lap, a cup of tea and a Rott:rotfl:
Ladykath – thanks for the crazygirl link, love the Susan Scarf and the Cavendish Throw and the Broken Rib Ruffled Scarf but the Mobius Wrap is my favourite it’s so versatile, ooo so many new patterns when will I ever find the time:D
May – I hope you are feeling ok today
I have a jumper I started ages ago in a yarn called Marakesh I bought from ebay last year. But I much prefer doing small things so I pick it up now and again and do a bit. I actually finished the back last night :T and started the front ribbing. So the way I am going it will be finished for next winter :rotfl:
OH needs food so better go, I've been on here for 2 hours:eek: reading and doing this post:o

Posting first, then will catch up with the forum - perhaps....snowed here the last two days and the electricity is constantly being cut, making life a little difficult - but I have plenty grub in the house and its certainly warm as toast indoors, I have plenty of wool to keep me going as well.
Made some coffee creams and they are in the fridge for an hour or so - perhaps I should just have left them out, then I will dip them in chocolate, used a coffee fondant recipe and they taste fine, will give you an update when I manage to scoff some proper ones.
Hope you are all keeping warm and not having too much snow in your part of the UK. OK off to catch up, may be back a bit later - we shall seeThe Hooligan Wooligan – age 9¾

Hi everyone, hope all are well
Why oh why does life in the Wilson house seem to lurch from one crisis or fight to another
First off the Council Tax Benefit officer was coming to the house today to sort out a mistake from 2004 (their fault not mine). The visit had been cancelled about 5 times because of snow/mam etc, so I was glad to be getting it sorted finally. Had every bit of paperwork they could wish to see all neatly sorted and put into piles and was determined that all would be calm and collected when she arrived..... hah!
Two hours before visit sister, niece, and 2 year old great nephew (Alfie) came around for a visit. Alfie got excited and ran a little ahead and fell right on his face. They arrived in an absolute panic, with blood pouring out of his mouth. We managed to get a look and he has knocked one of his front teeth right behind the other, and the second one has enamel missing . I rang NHS Direct to see what to do, and after about a half hour of questions was given a list of dentists to ring for emergency treatment. Sarah hadn't gotten around to registering with a dentist since their move up from London, so every bl***y one of them refused to see him....... a little 2 year old in agony . Finally rang a private practise and they couldn't have been more different - arranged to see him within the hour and all for free. Amid stories of the grabbing private sector it gives you hope for mankind when you have someone so selfless :T. Anyway, we have to take him back in a couple of weeks to see if there is anything can be done once it has had time to calm down, but they fear poor little mite may loose that tooth. Thank goodness it's only his baby tooth, but will be a few years until the next lot grow.
So far from the peace and quiet I'd wanted for benefit visit, I was rushing in at the last minute trying to remember what I had to do
Then Sarah saw me looking at my Sky TV account on line and asked why I was paying for 2 extra multi room subscriptions when I only had 1. I had thought that was one each for the box in the living room and the one in brother's bedroom (having cancelled the one in my bedroom when I had to move downstairs to care for mam). Sarah said no because the downstairs one was included in the main subscription - I'd though that was just for the different channels I had chosen. Rang sky and queried it and was accused of lying . The little upstart said how could I possibly not have noticed that I was being overcharged, and that they had most definitely not received a cancellation notice . After arguing for about an hour and him getting more and more abusive I said I would see a solicitor about it... he got even more cocky and asked if I'd like the address for their head office for the solicitor to write to.... blinking upstart! Of course I *did* take the address. Then I asked him to confirm that at least I would no longer be charged the extra money... and he said he couldn't :wall:. Finally demanded to be put through to the cancellations dept. In the meantime found a record I'd kept of the actual date I'd phoned and cancelled, and the woman said straight away that yes, she had the notice of cancellation right in front of her! Anyway she has promised me a full refund from June 2008 which should be about £190. But even that couldn't go straight forward as their dept could only pay refunds of up to two months, so I have had to fill in an on line complaints form to allow them to release the money.
So.... happy day! :rotfl:
And if you've managed to stick with my grumbling all through to the end of this post I'll treat you all to virtual coffee creamsTotals: 30 Buntings, 2 Gowns, 13 Chalky Squares0 -
LC i hope you asked if they kept recordings of phone calls so they could hear how you were spoken to by their very UNhelpful member of staff and then asked what would be done about him!!! but glad you were sorted in the end and are getting your money back:T
im glad you managed to find a dentist for your nephew and i hope hes going to be ok poor thing. howe idd your council tax visit go or was it called of again. I hope that goes/went alright.

Council Tax was sorted in about 5 minutes, then officer spent the next hour chatting :rotfl:
Good luck with the costume. It's amazing the amount of things kids go to now isn't it. 5 year old Zaki has a Chinese day at school today, and then with all of the birthday parties and such like... shiver at the cost of keeping up
