    Hi

Nice to see you back ChocClare. Sorry you've had a rough time of it, hope things brighten up a bit for you.

ISOM.... I will have to make a good excuse to come and see Dave and come and give you hand re crochet :-) Have you looked round the door in Crouches and seen him ? He's in the old shop, not the new one.

Taught my friend from church to crochet the other day. She has what they say is learning difficulties, but I don't think she has. She is a bit slow, but that's due to a lack of confidence I think. Trouble is once you've been labled as something, it sticks.
It took two and a half hours to get her going, but she did it. It went better when I changed her hook, the one she had wasn't cut away enough, it was the one she got with that crochet thing that's out in the newsagents at the moment. It couldn't hook the wool properly.
She did at one stage try to give up, but I wouldn't let her :-) I think that's the story of her life, people get fed up trying to show her anything, because she is slow, and have decided she can't do it, so they give up, making her give up!!! Anyway. I kept her to it lol and she got there.
When she got home she forgot everything lol, I had a private message left by her partner on my facebook saying she needed more tuition lol. She sorted it out on her own in the end. Brought it to show me Wednesday night to make sure she had got it right, and she'd done really well. That proved my theory about it's not learning difficulties she has, but lack of confidence due to people not prepared to take time with her. Her confidence levels have soared since being able to do the crochet, which is brill.

F1... Ask anything you want :-) Homeschooling is more popular here now than it has been, but, if you take that road, you get no help at all from the government. America is a lot more homeschooling friendly. There are some good groups now here of homeschoolers who get together etc. Anyway. PM me and I'll give you more info :-) It's not as hard as you think, and :-)

I've started my baby hoodie :-) It's going to be so sweet. Can't wait to get it finished. Didn't do any baby blanket yesterday, but will endeavour to do a square tonight. Want to get it done this weekend if possible :-)

Have a prosperous and blessed day. Hugs, lots of them, to thoses in need (((((hugs))))

    Hi everyone.

ChocClare - we'd never forget you! So glad to have you back but sorry you've had a tough time of it lately. I hope this year is good for you, and good luck with finding the right car.

Kinsey - I think you're right; doctors should be able to prescribe some Salome - I could think of loads of people who would benefit from her thoughtfulness for others.

Chalky - it's a shame you haven't found a doggy pattern that inspires you to get them done one after another! You'll have to face up to them sooner or later! Would it help if you just knitted the parts, say, all the legs in one go, then all the heads, and so on - then you could sew them all up one after the other; I know you like sewing up! The one you've made is really gorgeous - would love to see a photo of them all!

Well, I've been sorting out the things that need wrapping up to take back to the UK with me - I knew it would feel strange Christmas wrapping in January! I need to go out and get some food so I'd better go and check the freezer and cupboards.

Well - I was interrupted twice by the phone. I started this post half an hour ago! My BIL phoned from the south of France, and my FIL phoned from Cyprus. DH isn't here so I had to do all the talking! Anyway, I've been told that it's cool and cloudy in the south and pouring with rain in Cyprus which is really unusual. The weather sure has been strange lately!

    Good morning everyone.

I'm very excited today as I'm going to the wool shop yay.gif I do have a list though and an idea of the wool that I want! I'm looking for some 80% wool dk - probably Rowan - as I've decided to crochet squares for a blanket/throw for myself too. I've been looking at some blogs that were reccommended on the Crochet Anyone thread and there's some lovely ideas. Plus I have all you lovely talented ladies for much needed advice HSthanks.gif

Hope that everyone is okay and managing to deal with the rubbish that life seems to be throwing about at the moment.

    Morning all
HSthanks.gifThank you all for the lovely comments on my blanket, it did turn out well and I am very pleased with it,:) it took ages to get the colours right so I did an 8" wide tester so I could keep ripping it out until I got it right,

Hi chocclare nice to see you back :wave:hope 2010 is a good one for you.

f1 - the blanket took months, because as it got bigger it was difficult to cart it around with me so I only worked on it at home in-between other stuff.

Chalky - I am waiting for OH to print the little dog off for me I want to do one each for DGD's and DGS, he just loves to cuddle something.

SunnyGirl - ooo lucky you, dont you just love wool shops, they have a magic all their own

Salome - I agree with the others you should be available on the NHS as a kindness mentor :A It makes you wonder how many more people have been mis-diagnosed and all they suffer from is lack of confidence

kathy - oooo not long now. It looks like this wacky weather is happening all over the world

I ordered the 200 crochet blocks book from amazon with some christmas money I had from Mum and MIL. It has some really good squares in there, have tried a couple and they have come out really well. Think maybe my next BIG project will be a square throw ;)
Looking forward to the new challenges from L/H this weekend.

I am not supposed to be in here I should be *ironing*
suppose I better go get started.
    enjoy your day everyone

Hi everyone, hope the weather is better where you are,it`s snowing here again. OK Chalky don`t rub it in, I tried to get a flight to be there in time for tea but they were all booked up :p so I`ll just have to stay put.

This is definitely a `best laid plans of mice and men` day. Plan today was
    1. Go to wool shop for some more baby wool.
    2. Call in past a friend who does stuff for Loving Hands but can`t come to the meetings. She`s probably got a box full of stuff.
    3. Go to the LH meeting this afternoon for a natter over the knitting.
    4. Out with the family for dinner - special treat, so they`re paying.

However, 1. Postponed - too snowy. 2. As before. 3. Meeting cancelled for previous reason. 4. Hopefully still taking place, fingers crossed.

Pippa, your blanket is lovely. I can do the ripple crochet (when I really concentrate) but I don`t think I`d have the patience to do that much  I`ve done a scarf tho` :o.
Salome, keep up the good work with your pupil. You`ll have her doing Chalky squares in no time. Good confidence builder, knowing her new found talent could help less fortunate people ?

Chalky, give `em all hedgies instead of doggies !!!

Kathy, you should have wrapped the Christmas pressies at the right time of year - it wouldn`t have been so strange then as we were all up to our eyes in paper and sticky tape.

f1, hope DS has a good day today and :T it`s Friday, the weekend starts here.

Off to have a salmon salad for lunch instead of a boring sandwich today, mmmmmmmm.

Have a good day and have a (((hug))) or two if you need them.

Awww thank you for your kind words. I like to help people, especially if I can build up peoples confidences, and make them feel better. Life is hard enough at time as it is, without having to cope with additional problems others like to heap on us. Sometimes, all people need is a little time and a listening ear and something nice done for them, and it costs nothing to do that for someone :-)
My friend has already done a lot of knitted Chalky Squares :-) I shall encourage her to do crochet ones as well :-)

    Love you all :-)
