Pippa your blanket is lovely :-)
F1... So sorry about the hassle you're getting with your son and school. Have you ever considered homeschooling him ? If that is a viable option, I would be more than happy to give you advice. I have been a homeschooler for 16yrs, taught seven of mine at one time, now down to two. Let me know if I can be of any help :-)
xA work in progress0 -
Pippa The blanket is truly gorgeous you are so clever :T Thanks for the tip about swapping between knitting & crochet I think you're right. I've got 2 sides to finish crocheting on my 12" square then I'm casting on a preemie cardie in knit
F1 I am totally horrified at the school :mad::mad: Have you spoken to the Chair of Governors? If not I'd definitely bring it to his/her attention it's downright ridiculous0 -
Pippa, the blanket is tremendous, it really is beautiful. Well done :j0

F1 - Salome's home schooling idea is great, if it is at all possible.
Salome - I salute you for home schooling one child, let alone seven at the same time! I must admit, when I thought my youngest was not doing as well at high school as he should have been, I wish I'd thought about home schooling. Luckily, he blossomed when he went to engineering college and hasn't looked back. Traditional schools are not always the best place for every child, are they? You must have had good reasons for choosing to teach yours at home and, from what you say about them, they have thrived on it.

Pippa the blanket is lovely, very professional.
f1 widow, just a thought, you said you're looking for a new house, would it be possible to move to a different school catchment area? You've set the ball rolling for change at the present shool, so it should eventually get sorted anway, but might be your son would like to change.0 -
Oh pippa - what a super blanket - sooooo neat - how long did it take???
well im still not fully calm but hoping the needles will help tonight - a blur of mug cosies ...
Thanks for your comments - salome Ive said for a long while that i would like to home tutor and feel i couldnt possibly make a worse job than what we get now (we have not had any homework since way before xmas although DS said it was coming ready for half term but thats yet another story ha ha) - i must admit i thought it was only greatly received in america etc - i will pm you xx
The idea of moving would mean moving towns not just houses as there are only two schools here and the other is full (been on waiting list a year) - we moved here for DH job two years ago - we were just looking to move house now I must admit the thought had crossed our minds but DS I think wouldnt cope moving towns again - we dont come from here so know no one other than the friends we have made here.
ANyway DS seems reasonable today so that is the main thing and tommorow is Friday so its yippppppeeeeeeeee xxx
Hugs to you all and dont forget this weekend we have the LH challenges to look forward to - onward and upward and all that - take good care all of you Jaqui xxxDebt Diary: Im not going to be an Ostrich anymore -LBM - 16/1/12 /0 -

Hello everyone, you've probably completely forgotten me, it's been so long since I've been on!
Had a fairly horrendous couple of months - nothing serious in itself, just lots of hassle and that's kept me away. A chap went into the back of my car (sliding on the ice) the day before Christmas Eve and the insurance company wrote it off - great, he pays and I don't lose my no claims bonus but boo, I can't get the same level of car for what my old car is insured for (ridiculous that they've written it off - it's less than 3 years old and still DRIVES perfectly well - just has a really huge dent in the back which costs too much to repair apparently. Such a waste ). Anyway, that's just one of about a million things, but my Mensis Horribilis will officially be over on Sunday so I need to get back on track - and update my signature for a start! I've a bag full of stuff which needs to be sent off and I need to start some new stuff. You lot seem to have come up with about 100 extra pages while I've been away, so if anyone would be kind enough to tell me what's needed most at the moment that'd be great otherwise I'll spend the next month trawling through the pages I've missed and not doing anything! Also, could someone point me in the direction of the address where I need to send my boobs (nudge, nudge, wink, wink)? I think they go to Shaz as I remember, but I may well be hallucinating - wouldn't be the first time...0 -
Hi chocclare - good to see you back - sorry to hear about your car - thats just so  - but am glad that you are getting back on track and are back with us
Right your question about what we need
1. Our lovely chalky75 has come up with the idea that we can knit or crochet 8" squares (chalky squares we have called them) to run all year - once collected in chalky will sew them together and then we distribute them to good causes - they are addictive so be warned
2. shezmit (shelley preemiesUK) has set a challenge - it has been posted here but for the life of me I cant find it so if you go on her website she has it there http://preemiesuk.googlepages.com (on the main site) - plenty to keep us all busy - boobs and vent hats etc
3. If you go on Loving Hands their new quarterly challenge will be posted this weekend (31st I think) - so thats very exciting
Anyway must go DS needs help with the hair gel
Catch up soon Jaqui xxxxDebt Diary: Im not going to be an Ostrich anymore -LBM - 16/1/12 /0 -
Good Morning one and all --- It s sunny here with blue skies so coffee is served st 11.00 and tea at 4.00 !!! All welcome and we can sit and knit and natter.
Welcome back ChocClare-- EXACTLY the same thing happened to DD1 just before Christmas. Not her fault as she was stationary at traffic lights. Her car was also written off and she is still waiting for it all to be resolved but is nearly there . So sorry for all your trouble. If you fancy joining us on the Chalky squares welcome and enjoy!
Pippa - That blanket is absolutely gorgeous . You must be so pleased.
F1 -- Fingers crossed that DS has a good day and then yippeeeeeee its the weekend for you all
Well I ma switching between Chalky squares and cakes!!! I think it is quietly an avoidance technique as liitle puppies need attention!!!
Market day today so must get on. Project for day after a Menu Del Dia lunch with friends on the beach (A beautiful 3 course lunch for 10 Euros) is Aubergine Chutney . It is delicious and will be my next post on my blog if you fancy the recipe.
Lots of gentle thoughts so all those feeling a bit sad and congratulations to anyone celebrating. We could do with some celebratory news couldn't we. Hope DD is well Elaine
